Well, if you only have 3 trainees, then being able to train 6 guys doesn't really do you much good.

and if you had a lot of money you wouldn't care about paying 1 week of salaries more
what are we talking about here?

So you only train JS or RB during AS or offseason?

We all have different styles and priorities, but in most cases less training games =less training. If losing a training game doesnt effect you, kudos.

I am really glad BB's finally did something to adress the curse of 5th (also 8th) seed. New system sure has some flaws which are being discussed but it's way better than the previous system.

I am not sure but I assume the following:

Losing by a big margin in the first playoff round will give you a bad fan survey in the "played good last league game" and "played good in the last TV-game", whereas finishing fifth will give you only a small minus compared to reaching the playoffs.

Next assumption:
I pay around 400k in salaries in Div II and make almost the same amount through ticket sales. If my opponent is much better than me and has almost the same income from his stadium a loss in the first round will make me ~130k - thats really a low sum compared to the 400k I could save by finishing fifth.

Solution: Pay the teams a bonus for reaching the playoffs, so that a loss in the first round is still financially more attractive than a free week as fifth (btw. every team has to do some stamina or FT training, so this one game is not a huge loss)

And that doesn't matter at all since you won't be playing any paying game until the reset.

This is madness.

Currently, at least in my case (II division in Italy), this is the situation:

- if you finish first in your conference and win the first playoff game, it's better than finishing fifth
- if you finish second, third, or fourth, and manage to qualify for the finals, it's better than finishing fifth
- in every other case, it's better to finish fifth

As a matter of fact, if you end up third or fourth and are able to reach the final, but lose 2-0, it still isn't economocally worth it if you played the first two rounds away from home. However, the chance to play in the final would probably outweigh the economic loss.

Still, having a system in which it's economically preferable to finish fifth rather than second in most cases doesn't seem all that great.

This favors buying monsters for playoff with no fear of having to pay that huge salary when you accidentally lose. If those kind of player transfers do not get regulated, then this change is worse than the previous system. Now no planning is needed (you don't have to plan for 14 weeks of salarys). I hope we are not moving in the direction of making this game easy.
