Ok people, another week has passed and here we are again to analse the derby matches of yesterdays game day, 12th of February.
1. Keraynos vs Pistoleroi. Perhaps the hottest game of the day. Keraynos, who was currently in second place in Big 8 conference, was scheduled for a home court game against Pistoleroi, Great 8 leading team. We all expected a huge derby between the two teams but favoured Pistoleroi cause in our opinion is a more all around team with diversity in their game. On the other hand we had Keraynos, who was playing in his home court, a team that consists of strong big men like Władek Dziędziela. Keraynos nearly always plays inside tactics like LI and LP, since its strength is under the basket.
Both teams decided on a man to man defense which was a better call for Keraynos since Pistoleroi usually play base offense. What if the coach of Pistoleroi played 2-3 zone. Would the score be different? We do not believe so. Maybe the margin would be different but surely not the over all win.
Analysing Keraynos stats we observe a low outside defense which will surely be a problem against teams that play outside tactics. On the other hand the team has a great offensive flow which helps a lot in LI and LP tactics. Huge performance by Władek Dziędziela with 21 points and 16 rebounds along with C. Mindong (19 points and 11 rebounds). As for Pistoleroi big guys M. Ionescu had 7 points and 13 rebounds, L. Sordoni 10 points and 12 rebounds and A. Formigao with 4 points and 5 rebounds.
As for the SF position, X.Da of Keraynos managed18 points with 0 out of 7 3points, 1 assist and 4 turnovers. P. Pediaditakis of Pistoleroi had 15 points with 1-3 3points, 2 assists and 0 turnovers. As for the PG and SG position Pistoleroi dominated the game. In general the teams were very close with similar rebounds, similar assists but more TO and less steals by Keraynos.
So there you have it. A well deserved win by Pistoleroi who continue their way to the playoffs and perhaps the finals.
