perhaps you're looking for the effect at the wrong place? I always assumed Shot Blocking was best against Driving layups and similar shots - i.e., guards attacking the rim, not so much big men.
I also agree that while SB might be too expensive to use in higher leagues, having proficient Blockers is very nice for lower leagues, and indeed while I seldom train SB, I value Big Men with some SB highly. They don't simply help against the opponents' bigs, but can defend their Guards if necessary while having little OD. Having Big Men who combine for 5 blocked shots per game on average means I get a 5-10 point advantage from simply what I see in the box score, altered shots not included. To get the same advantage with 3-pointers, my players would need to sink 5-10 more 3s a game (because a 3-pointer is only 1 point more valuable than a normal bucket) which is quite a lot. People say high JR isn't worth it, and I might even agree, but they don't say JR isn't worth it at all; and SB might be a similar case.
Everyone thinks SB has a real utility, actually can use only assumptions, because no one has proven yet that really SB has a powerful effect on defence
The example is him:
(4599819)I remeber him as a strong adversary of Italian U 21 national team ,and I remeber that when he was put on TL at age of 21,his SB level was 14.He make 1,4 blocks /game this season in Bundesliga, and he pays these 1,4 blocks thousand of $
You think that buying player with thousand of $ higher salaries it would not give you more than, maybe,if you have 3 big man as him,10 points of 5 block/game?
