This is a tragic point of view, mate.

You have 2 others training slot and you can make money or built half of your team by yourself.
You can't buy your 18 yo MVP if you don't have 1.5kk that we can suppose you make before that time.
If you have a good team for a good league you make money from attendance, merchandising and TV contract.

I think that a 18yo MVP that costs 1.5 million should be a franchise player that you can do like you want. And you can sell him when his time in that franchise ends (-> franchise rebuilt).

That was my point - you should only buy an 18 y.o MVP if you want to have an franchise player and then be OK with whatever after your time is over. To get a good player - you'll still have to train him for 10 seasons and playing around the numbers highlight the exponential cost of training (trainer salary and player salary).

My point was more a poke about the complaints about high market price - looking to what goes into the good clearly shows that market prices could be much higher if the true cost of training was known and taken into account.

(even if you cut the trainer cost into 3 parts - you are still looking at a high cost per trainee. I also take issue with the idea that to train one player, you need to farm 6 other players).

What is L4? Superior (I'm making this assumption because it's 4th in the dropdown list)?

If so, I'm seeing a MUCH higher expense, at least on trainers. Looking at Superior trainers starting ~20k salary a week, these easily get bids over 300k before I stop paying attention.

I don't really anticipate being able to afford the signing bonus on anyone cheaper than the guy I got (currently up to 47443) anytime soon since pretty much every trainer I bid on under 40k starting that is at minimum the same level, the bid quickly shoots over 100k :p

Another fun fact, I got my trainees in first two drafts by random chance. They had random starting skills and allstar potential. Always bought cheapest L3 trainers for 1k bid. If you're active enough, you can find them at 7k-8k starting salary.

I pumped up my main trainee to 119 skills, a bit less then 30k salary. My other trainee is at 115 currently, will go to 119 too. My third trainee was MVP pot, came with the original team, not as efficient as the main two guys but still at 115 skills, with reasonable salary.

The funny fact about trainers is that there are no World Renowned trainers with a specialty available right now...
Doctors: no exceptional or WR with massage specialty

I never understood why better staff is so rare. The cost and higher increases make high level staff uneconomical very quickly as demonstrated above (but really it is common sense).

Besides higher level trainers and staff are a great way to siphon even more money away from bank accounts, they make everyone happy: less cash available, more training. Give us more higher level trainers with appropriate salaries.

Lost as usual in the how much does a trained player cost argument
Is the very real extra function this player provides:

He plays for you!

His skills are always worth more than his salary since the salary doesn't catch up until season's end.

You have to have players on your roster
Those players don't have to be bought or paid
and unlike the 33+ aging veterans, they don't lose skills along the way
also diminishing in value
And BTW
Check the current prices of a well trained player
make 3 and they perform for you as they gain value

Sadly if the BB discussions about training and economics were about having the player rather than selling the player for profit (which is the topic dominating way too many threads on the forum) then we'd have those discussions.

Plus seeing that it is virtually impossible to be competitive in a high tier-league when focusing somewhat on training - you are getting very little out of your player up until he is +100 skill points. The player playing-argument feels out of touch seeing that it requires being OK with 12 months of real time to just train the player and then 12 months of real time to get him to the point where he is good.

2 years of our lives to get function when you can save that kind of money in 1-2 season and buy a player who can perform straight away.
