I definitely cannot say that I have much experience in this at all as I've only been around for one draft, but I am putting absolutely nothing into training this year.

I had scouted about 16 prospects did my best in ordering them and didn't come out with anything that was worth keeping. Two of my draftees were fired, one was sold for about $10k.

I'll take that extra money I save from NOT scouting and put it in my stadium, or save it and buy up a prospect I actually want on the TL.

JMO.

I drafted last in my league. Put in 5k week. Drafted 2 MVP-s that sold for total 900k and one good enough SG to play at SF spot. I will put in 10k week this time!!! To get more info:)

So by the responses ...I take that it is still a crapshoot. haha.

I am the only human backed team in my D5 league. All the rest are bots. I am hoping to finish at or near the top. So according to this...put some money into scouting because i will probably get who i want since I am not up against brains.

Right?

That's what I'd do. Though I wouldn't put an absolute ton of money - I'd probably do $10k per week.

Don't bother scouting unless your team's record is terrible or most of the teams in your league are inactive. Generally there only 1 or 2 great players worth spending scouting for. Otherwise the other players you could simply pick them up on the TL later without having to gamble.

biggest mistake I made was full scouting the season I came in 2nd in my league. Wasted alot of money.
I currently Scout 2, but if I am in top 2 in League then will drop it down. If I go lower then I will increase scouting.

here is my strategy when it comes to scouting, and tell me if this is wrong cause i've only taken part in 2 drafts and the 1st one i got my team 4 days before. Anyway, last season it seemed like to me that the money i spent pre all star break was for the 1st scouting (skill and game stats) then the money i put in after the all start break started back at player 1 and did as many players as it could the 2nd evaluation (potential and age). So this year my strategy is to do 2 players a week until the all star break (so i'll have the 1st evaluation for 14 players) and post all star break I'll just do 3 players a week (in doing so i'll get the 2nd evaluation on 12 players). Please chime in 1st of all on whether or not I'm correct with how the pre and post all star game scouting breaks down, and also if you think this is a good strategy.

Hmmm....interesting theory. I was always under the impression that it didn't matter when the money was accrued. Frankly, I would spend money based on where I think I’d finish and which position I’d be drafting at.

Are you 100% certain it doesn't. Cause i was able to see the age and potential for the exact number of players i had scouted post all star break up to the beginning of the playoffs. Thats intersting I'll have to check that out with this years draft.
