alright boys, we're officially halfway through the season, let's get some power rankings done:

1. Philadelphia Phantasm - 11-0

again, you can't argue with undefeated. they're rainmakers from deep, led by a resurgent timothy fischer. 43% from beyond the arc is just cooking. the team has been on fire all season, pulling out the tough games and beating down the lower-echelon teams, apparent in their pd of a staggering +404. that's a pace of over 800! that would be a level of dominance last seen 5 seasons ago, and we've seen some good teams come and go.

2. Baker Street Irregulars - 8-3

pereyaslav kuptsov. his name is as difficult to pronounce as his play is to define. he does it all for the irregulars, and has shot himself into mvp contention. he shoots, he rebounds, he drives, even dishes... well kinda dishes sometimes every once in a while when he isn't putting the ball in the hoop. the irregulars are who we thought they were, and top the blue division as proof.

3. West Side Tigers - 8-3

maybe underrated at 3 (i debated between them and baker street for a good long while), they're right in the thick of things once again. topping the charts in collective team salary, this comes as a surprise to no one. their lack of a deep bench has cost them a bit, but remains the only question mark on the team. unless philly unexpectedly falters, they'll probably have to go on the road in the playoffs to earn their place in the title game. this was largely of their own doing, due to intentionally laying down 2 league games in favor of winning cup games. can they overcome hca? if anyone can...

4. frosty bc - 8-3

let's not kid ourselves, i've yet to play baker street, and skated by a dinged up bucsblue team. expect this to change in the near future. nevertheless, if the proof is in the pudding, then an 8-3 record and a +275 pd, good for 2nd best in the league, is downright incriminating. my squad has been led by a combo attack of tomas liutvickas and mounir ben slimane (tounes international player). liutvickas has arguably been the league's premier sniper, and slimane is a walking double-double. pick your poison, sirs. the kids are also fairing a lot better at point than i thought they would, which has led the team to not completely suck.

5. BucsBlue Lob City - 7-4

they dropped a game to yours truly due to an injury to their stud tompkins, and early in the season to homeboyz during their rebuild, otherwise you'd probably see them in the top 3 in the charts. at a minimum, up a spot. they're well on their way to reclaiming former dominance with rookie joe hilton which is SO UNFAIR HOW HE GOT HIM HE DIDN'T EVEN SCOUT C'MON BB YOU'RE BETTER THAN THAT! anyway... tompkins likely tops the mvp votes, probably followed closely by fischer. this team is still dangerous and can still make noise in the playoffs.

6. Diamantes - 7-4

they're still in pretty good shape as far as playoffs are concerned, but it must be awfully worrisome watching mitsubishi and homeboyz make a couple marquee acquisitions. while they have failed to live up to the billing as a big market, highly paid team, they're winning on 2 fronts; the league and the cup. it's a balancing act that thus far they've played well, and their bench is to thank for that.

7. homeboyz - 7-4

the acquisition of big-time center markko vahi has catapulted them to favorites to take a playoff spot, and possibly do some damage when they get there. it's a team that can't be taken lightly by the top tier teams in the league. they'll put a hurting on anyone who does. joining an already present le dorze, it's a front court tandem to rival any in the league, and they can still stroke it from outside.

8. Mitsubishi Eclipse - 7-4

recent acquisition dragec korljan has lit it up in his first couple appearances, dropping 29 ppg. varvas continues doing his thing leading the eclipse to where they are now; right in the thick of a playoff hunt. while it may be improbable, perhaps even unfair, to expect them to make any noise once they get there, getting there does seem to be a reasonable goal for this team.

9. Space von Jam - 7-4

way down the list and maybe underrated, svj sits at 9 in the power rankings. they barely squeaked by homeboyz, crosstown and fbc (i'm totally not bitter), was given a freebie by west side, and got beat by walnut and ballstars, thus my justification. while the team has perhaps not played up to their preseason billing, star center arthur hinkle certainly has. the highest rated player in the league consistently puts in devastating defensive performances, effectively shutting down most post play from the opposition. the gap on the red side does signify that this team is on their way to a playoff berth in their inaugural III.7 season, which is impressive in its own right.

10. Walnut Streets - 5-6

there's a pretty good sized gap between 9 and 10, but last night the streets played in a manner that suggested it's not as big as the numbers might have you believe. they've been playing pretty well lately. undoubtedly still disappointed with how their season has gone, but there's hope. a young core has emerged from their team that looks capable of hanging tough. you MIGHT see team reset in the near future out of manager squirrel, and they might be able to still compete despite having unloaded a ton of talent. in addition, tremol is having one of the better seasons he's had in a long time, topping the charts in blocks and averaging 11.7 rpg.

11. Crosstown United - 4-7

another team that has seen a skid from last season, their fall from a playoff spot a season ago has been abrupt. being 3 games behind playoff pace means they'll have to start kicking some serious butt for the remainder of the season. suddenly, that mitsubishi and bucsblue games look awfully important, and their later matchups with fbc and svj are must wins. most of the team's shortcomings can likely be attributed to a shallow bench and poor game shape. with an arena size of just 10k, i don't see financial relief coming anytime soon. on the bright side, moses mcgee is averaging 22.8 ppg and might see himself receive some mvp votes at season's end.

12. Ballstars - 3-8

my utopia team's brethren is in a relegation battle with new york. they'll be alright if they can just oust the chickens, and they likely will i'd imagine. if nothing else, it's hard to see them losing the pd battle given a tie.
arena expansion has wisely become the top priority for manager dj kieller. if they do a good job with managing finances and expanding their arena, they could be around for quite a while. they have some talent there with crowe, waldron and christiansen whom are reasonably young, and perhaps some 18 yr old rookie talent in carone, so it does seem like they're doing the right things in terms of building the franchise.

13. New York Chickens - 3-8

ignoring conventional wisdom in focusing on building the arena, the chickens are in a relegation battle regardless. i sure wouldn't bet on either them or ballstars beating walnut streets in a 3 game series, so that 6 spot will be critical. they've made some smart moves, investing in youngsters pirsino, sure and delauney, so there's hope here yet of develiping into a successful franchise. on the other hand, they've also invested in players well into their mid-late 30s. can they come up with a win on the road against ballstars? that game will be crucial in determining their near-future.

14. Pearl City - 1-10

well someone had to win last night. i jest, we know this manager knows what he's doing. from the forums he seems pretty bright and his moves have been intelligent. i'm sure the team will be fine in the future. his entire team is a bunch of youngsters so it's hard to single out anyone, but his team has been getting beat by less and less so he's gotta be doing something right.

15. wrexham rebels - 1-10

afk

16. LambdaLambdaLambda - 0-11

the team is in rough shape game shape wise. he hasn't logged on in over a month. that's actually tragic, hopefully he comes back and whoops d4.

Good win Buddy! I knew there was no chance i was getting a W in that game. I do see that we kept it close for a half on the back of Pana, but overall just not enough. I will say i am confident that if I had tommy the game probably comes down to the wire. Sorry you got an injury to a starter... I never like to see that.

On top of that my 19 yr olds try to compete but are NO where near being good enough to play 35+ mins in a competitive D3 game. Now against the relegation teams yeah, but not against anyone with a 30k PF or C... so they foul and foul ALOT so you get a BOATload of FTs which hurts and then they foul out so now my rotations and line ups are thrown off. Plus Marco gets fouls because he's playing tons of post help defense to cover up for them. Basically my guards either have to score 60-70 between them or we lose its that simple right now and thats why its a rebuild. Now lucky for me the teams this year are not championship or bust competitive so i have found my way to 7 wins so far. But its all smoke and mirrors right now. Next year or the year following we will be back to Championship Pedigree.

With that all said I must say Marco Tatti has a bid on him. So he will be moving here in an hour or so. Once he officially sells the team will release a thanks to him, give a recap of his contributions to our team and this league and a small view of where he is going. And our thoughts on what that team maybe looking for by taking him.

Ps if anyone in the league sells a player who's salary is 30k or higher that contributed to our LEAGUE not just their team. I will give a pleasant farewell to that player and look at what the team purchasing them may have in mind.

idk, new guy seems to put them as best team in the conference

Maybe, we'll see. It'll be some interesting games down the stretch. I think yourself, philly, west side and bucsblue are all players for the cup, and I'll be willing to throw in homeboyz if I see them fare well against some of the top teams. They're a little behind the top teams in terms of team salary, but it's entirely possible his secondaries are better than all the above. We'll see.

Frosty I appreciate the ranking. Its funny as i was reading your insight i never even thought about the first loss to Homeboyz and then our game its NO promise that if Tommy plays i win but there is a way to make an argument that i could be 9-2... UNREAL given the openness of how poor my team is. lol

On a different note dont blame BB for everyone missing on Joe Hilton. he probably showed up to teams that scouted as 19 yrs old 6'10 5 4 star player rating, 3 star potential and A+ rating. So maybe people passed. Maybe no one knew who he was best part frosty is that my first pick was Todd (hes bleeping BRUTAL!) and then at 29th Joe falls me. He had 4 attributes as strong when i got him. But already with training he has had multiple 10.0 rating games already which is rare for 19 yr old. When you're a contender you just always expect to get trash in the draft and just hope to get someone is worth selling for 100k-200k. But you never get anyone worth training and if they are they are never good enough to actually play in D3 games. And somehow the stars lined up and i got a player that i actually can play (minus him fouling so much cuz he's really not ready ready just yet) and worth training.

Overall I like the move by you HomeBoyz. He's young and my guess is most 80k Centers have HUGE inside defense so he will anchor the post. The question is whether his jump shot is any good. Because if it was higher or his handle/passing/driving was above avg BB makes them a PF not a C. Once i see BB label him a center it tells me he lacks a few points in the top 6 categories. But its a great move for sure puts you in the playoff hunt.

I also agree Frosty that on the Great 8 side you want to be 6th seed. 7th seed is gone as walnut will beat them in the series. I will say that the games once we get out of interleague play will be fun as there are legit 5 teams on our side that have "something" to play for and 6 teams on your side maybe 7. So that will be fun.

I am thinking at all star break as i often do with that extra day of no game on tuesday i will give my midseason individual awards and looks. That being top 5 MVP candidates along with an all league team for best player at each position. MVP will have nothing to do with position. Feel free to piggy back it with any other midseason awards for individuals not team.

Also we have 9 Teams still in the cup i believe after all star game we get down to the final 64. It would be awesome if we have 10% of our league still around the final 64! I dont know everyone else matchups. My match up has good post play but my guards should dominate and as long as tommy is healthy by then i will play both Tommy & Pana and i think that is enough to win my cup game.

well... i don't think it's a given that you beat me with tompkins and you playing normal, but i think you become the favorite in that game by at least 5, maybe 7, even if enrici stays healthy all game.
