I understand, that's why I was wondering wether the effectiveness of ID vs OD on guards is known, because maybe 12 ID can stop 12 IS without the need of SB, then you can just counter IS with ID as both have about the same training speed (extra IS via 1v1/JS forwards, extra ID with OD training).

We need to remember SB on Bigs not only defend other Bigs. A Center with mid-high SB can affect (and stop) most guards lay ups. Specialy in 2-3 Zone were the C defend right under the Basket.

PS. Bigs can pop slowly JR training JS for SF/PF; at the same pace you can pop JS/IS training 1 vs 1 for SF/PF . OD and PA are the only skills that you can't train at C/ PF spot (1-2 positions).

I forgot that your theories and believes are the only ones with validation and everyone else (including BBs and theirs facts) are wrong.
Sorry my mistake.

Quote from BB patrick:

Well, I cannot say whether the change affects certain matchups more than others, but as we said in previous newsposts there are some areas on the pitch where shot blocking is the most usefull. In these areas shots are altered (or blocked) much more often than others and we increased the value of shot blocking in some of these areas.

Anyways, the effect of the Shot Blocking change shouldn't solely be measured in altered or blocked shots. It may very well be that overall the looks in inside tactics are much worse or that guards are forced to take more shots from the outside. This could all result in inside tactics being less effective, yet these are not clearly observed from boxscores.

If I understand correctly, this basically means centers with high shotblocking will be more willing to offer help at blocking shots from driving guards. Also guards should not drive as much against good shotblockers.

There is little rotation, even in the zones, the bigs are not rotating over and stopping the inside attack.

Yes, that frustrates me too. We are developing PGs with huge driving and IS skills, but with no outside shot and mediocre passing (15-16 at best). This somewhat mirrors NBA, where the best PGs are unguardable 1 on 1 (Rose, Westbrook, CP3), but in NBA you have Howard, Hibbert and other great defensive centers that step in and try to alter the shot should the opposing PG blow by its' cover man. Here in BB...not so much.

Would SB by too powerful if it had game-altering effects like Dwight Howard has on opponents' outside players who are changing their game plan just because of his presence? I think not, because in order to have high SB you have to sacrifice other inside skills and real life is no different (exceptions like Hakeem excluded).

I think its the salary formula, not the GE which is the biggest problem now.

I agree. Free IS is a problem. I mean, last year's winner of BB has PG with IS>PA. How ridicolous is that?

Try 20 SB on a big and stay under 200k salary wtihiout gimping him somehwere...you could have 20 OD or 20 PA on teh big (in some crazy builds) with tanked SB thoug hadn keep the salary veyr verylow...and this is what folks have been doing.

This is a ~200k build:

9 2
20 12
12 20
9 19
18 18

It's 139 skillpoints and we have some SFs that have more, but boy, would this training be painful and slow. The best course would probably be to buy a all-around HoF with 208-211cm, work three seasons on outside skills (OD in particular) and then train him at C for the rest of his career, save a season of PA.This player is a nightmare matchup for attackers, but does close to nothing on offense, so it balances out. And this balance should be achieved on guards also.
