I suppose I should chime in here since I trained up a a core of guys then ran them into their mid-late 30's.

Career Extension trainers are worth it. You can go through the both years of 33 and 34 with say 1-4 skill drops total, but 2-3 would be the most common by far. 35 is when some of the magic of Career Extension wears off and the drops hit harder. You'll start seeing some double drops, which is a skill dropping from, say, Prodigious to Wondrous.

If you've trained up a player (or bought him), and he fits your team exactly how you want. He's probably worth more to you than he would be on the Transfer List.

However, now is a very good time to sell 33+ year olds.

it will be interesting to see what the market thinks of those players.

The market for older players is temporarily inflated. This should be the last season of a mass of people promoting to higher tiers in Utopia.

16 new Utopia teams needing D1 payrolls. 40 new Utopian D2 teams. I'm not even going to count how many D3 teams would be really interested in 33+ year old players making between 10-40k.

Now that my guys sold I can weigh in here. I can echo everything that AZ laid out above. I got a bit less than I expected for Xiang and bit more for Blake but the main goal was to shed salary so I got about a $170K "rebate" if I wait until after the next financial update to replace them. Xiang was one OD drop from being a liability so I was kind of stuck. I might have been able to roll with Blake as a backup SF but his salary was out of line for his skill set.

As for the skill drops, Xiang lost 2 points over 60 days and Blake lost 2 over 30. I have seen it suggested that higher potential slows down the erosion of skills. In my limited experience, I have found that to be the case but it may be more of a small sample size bias. In any case, if they fit your team strategy an older player can definitely provide good bang for the buck.

WTF Bullish ?? I wish I had your IQ.

Or is it mostly Utopia, & my complete lack of knowledge thereof?

Regardless, Thx for the insights ...

I mean, everyone in the NBBA has a high BB IQ. We wouldn't have gotten this far otherwise.

And yeah it'd be easier to pick up if you had a Utopian team. Most of the teams try and compete with older players, and use the money they would've spent on younger players, towards arenas or something like that.

I've been thinking about going for Utopia next season (if its not too late). My logic is this, however: I don't have enough time & energy to manage my Delta 9 as well as I'd like. Therefore, wouldn't a second team hurt Delta 9, by taking interest & time away from the main franchise ??

I am intrigued w/ Utopia. & it would certainly be fun to start from the nothing & build a team ...

I had the same concern when I started my second team, but I don't think it's really hurt the Whalers. I'm just focusing on training, making money, and building my arena. Since I'm not really trying to win with my second team, I'm not scouting opponents, thinking about lineups/tactics, or even looking at the TL very often, so the amount of time I spend on it is minimal, and I still get the fun of seeing my trainees improve each week, which is one of my favorite things about this game and something I miss with the Whalers. My plan is to start paying more attention to my second team and trying to win around the time that the Whalers go into rebuilding mode, so that I always have one team that I'm spending most of my time on and another in training/making money mode.

Thank you both. It's definitely a satisfying feeling to make it to the top after the years I've spent playing this game. Revenue from a game 3 would have been nice, but I'm happy to have ended it tonight. In Your Face is a very good team and it wouldn't have taken much to shift things in his favor.

Congrats for your title!
I was flying on Automatic Flight Control, but I had no chances to win.
Reaching the finals and Cup-semifinals after promotion is quite a success
