I think it's stupid and unrealistic. Attendance should be based on standings, PD, star players, etc. Not what happened in the previous game.

I've been doing that already!

Does this mean I can count on this to continue Saturday?

I have used this example before....but can you envision a scenario in which the Miami Heat fans refuse to go watch Game 7, because they lost on the road in Game 6?

I had this argument with Charles before, and he actually argued that in Hockey, it's quite common for Game 7 to sell fewer seats than other games in a series....First of all, umm, no, you are wrong...and secondly and most importantly, this is basketball, not hockey.

My favorite part about this is that, a few years ago, they introduced the fan survey because an away loss used to have the effect of a nuke in the stands and, you know, that's a bad kind of lack of realism.

Wait...it used to be even worse? Wow.

Also, what's totally unrealistic is losing Game 22 of the regular season, and then having fans boycott your first playoff game.

Probably. Weather forecast predicts lots of orange-brownish balls falling through the wrong hoop at a prolific rate.

maybe the goal was to get teams to reconsider the impact of throwing road games? there's likely less of a disparity in HCA, esp at the NBBA level, if the majority of games are road normals against home ties.

just brainstorming wtf they were thinking. whatever their rationale it doesn't make sense.

No, but Miami fans are awful though. The Marlins had a more than half-empty stadium all season when they won the world series in 2003. They averaged 16,000 tickets sold in a stadium that could seat about 70,000. (Of course actual attendance was half that. Plus the Marlins recently admitted lying about attendance.)

A couple years ago they had a grand total of 347 fans for a game! Yes... 347 people for a major league game. And that reportedly wasn't even their smallest crowd.

Prior to their new stadium, they were the 125th most popular professional sports team in the USA, as measured by season ticket holders! That's astoundingly bad.

I wish they'd increase HCA. Maybe make it twice as strong as it currently is. Or even 3 times as strong.

But... also increase the impact of your last away game. Make it so a loss results in a 90% drop in attendance, minimum. (And none of the remaining fans are allowed to sit court-side).
