speaking of lobster pots, what's up with the Desert Storm, xtc and Phyr all losing tonight. pretty amazing.

the regular season just got more complex.

Yeah, that was a little disappointing. Even more so, because he did EXACTLY what I expected him to do. That guy has a history of managing GS, and his best players haven't played in a cup this season...I took a chance that he could bring his A team tonight but indeed, he played the lineup I expected, and it still wasn't enough.

I probably should have played Patient...but I have to believe this game result was somewhat fluke-ish...Irby was horrible...He's always an excellent FT shooter and missed a bunch of FTs and he couldn't score inside to save his life...going up against Scrub guards who have to have 6 or less ID...Probably would win that same game more often than not...but it wasn't our night...nice job to DIV guy...get's a big win over an NBBA team, with his scrub team.

I hate bowing out the of cup this early...but it does take a load off knowing I can focus on all of my league games and put pressure on A-Dub to have little margin for error if he wants HCA in the Finals :-)

back in the day, i had Reed Purdy. still amazing to think i got that guy for only $500,000, but he did have a $200,000 salary and couldn't quite measure up for the NT. anyway, like you, i went into an early Cup game with a thin squad, but i was going to play Purdy -- the thinking was one $200,000 player and scrubs could make it past some DIV squad. we lost -- Purdy was awful.

i got so mad i sold the guy. easily one of the dumbest things i've done in this game, which is saying a lot.

but you're right -- it is possible you've already lost your last regular season game this year.

Good evening Trailblazer fans, wherever you may be.

You bet I'm totally stoked to have defeated a two time Cup champ and the #2 team in the country. I sat all but two starters, and was still able to come away with the win with my scrubs. Awesome for me, and totally sucks for you. Especially because of what it does to enthusiasm later in the season. Sorry, not sorry.

to quote the great Bill Schonley "you've got to make your free throws."

I don't know if it's any solace, but my entire team is built off of OD/ID and SB. So my PG has 9 ID and 9 SB. My SF has 11 ID and 9 SB, and my 20 year old C is 11 ID, 8 SB.

It probably has something to do with my pre-game approach. I let them watch Miracle and they got fired up by Herb Brooks' pre game speech:

"Great moments are born from great opportunity, and that's what you have here tonight, boys. That's what you've earned here tonight. One game; if we played them ten times, they might win nine. But not this game, not tonight. Tonight, we skate with them. Tonight we stay with them, and we shut them down because we can. Tonight, we are the greatest hockey team in the world.
You were born to be hockey players—every one of you, and you were meant to be here tonight. This is your time. Their time is done. It's over. I'm sick and tired of hearing about what a great hockey team the Soviets have. Screw 'em. This is your time. Now go out there and take it!"

sorry GM-Jason and best of luck the rest of the season.

I know this was a once-in-a-lifetime deal.

Well...it was great while it lasted. Unfortunately being first will end for me tomorrow.
