Well if you must know :) I have been doing single position training of point guards so I know exactly what you mean. In my experience of looking for cheap TL guards, they usually have really bad interior skills and maybe one below average perimeter skill. With the single position training it doesn't hurt so much. Obviously, I would prefer to buy much more advanced trainees and that's something I would hope to build up to. I've never really had the opportunity to buy expensive trainees until this past season when did exactly that.
Now I'm talking circles around myself. I went against my philosophy and bought an expensive trainee since I had extra funds from the sale of my stud player I got from the draft. I swear, I don't prefer to do it that way :). Seriously though, after a few seasons (hopefully) in D.III and a stabilized cash flow I'll likely change my strategy to account for the upside needed to really compete here. I don't know if you guys know this, but this is a hard division....
