All these comments are really helpful. I like GM-Narcisse's variation on the idea. I can see it working but i can't see it coming in for a while if ever really. It's only a thought. Could be agood feature though if implemented correctly!

For what it's worth, I don't see any benefit to having player specialties. There are more than enough skills available to simulate any of the specialties mentioned in this thread.

Enforcer - fouls more, but reduces willingness of opponents to drive the lane.

Go To Guy - Wants the ball late in close games, but sometimes seems as if he doesn't care early on.

Stats Guy - Wants the ball early as he builds his scoring totals, but disappears in crunch time.

Steady Eddy - Plays about the same regardless of the game situation.

Gunner - Fires even when team mates are open.

Cool Hand Luke - May actually play better on the road when motivated by hostile crowd. You want him in the game when the other team is on a 10-0 run.

Home Town Boy - Thinks every road game is a visit to Brick City.

Bulldog - May frustrate opposing players, sometimes causes ejection of both he and opponent.

Showtime - Will try the spectacular rather than the sure thing, but when he succeeds it can ignite the home town crowd.

I tried to think of things that would change how a player used his skills, more than would make a player more skilled.

if those specialities will be applied for the players, I would like to see any speciality on every player, because those without it will be priceless and will be pointless to train them

anyway I like to have specialities which will make faster a training of any skill or will affect the behaviour on match - we can have a LOT of them and that could be fine

i would like to see an *hook shot*
also they could add some of those here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basketball_moves
and it should work like that, if a player attempts to do an move like this and he got it as special he gets some kind of 50% better chance to get points out of it....
and sure every player should have one special
anyway to hard to implement i guess.

we dont wont that this game be like hattrick, we like it different, I think that there are other important suggestions that we have to pay attention before...

there is a way to implemetn specialities without making iot hattrick.
Someone sugested that the speciality would help training, and I think it is a great idea. Why should only height have influence on training?
Technical players could improve quicker in handling and passing, while strong players could improve more quickly in inside defense and rebounding.

it can be skills, like "unforseen"....he makes something very strange, out of normal...

if you go around the specialities skills.... doesnt have to be something connected to the skill

"honest" player doesnt foul so much...
"aggressive" stops alot of offense but does some fouls.

"happy" makes the guys work a little bit better (longer time, like their stamina increases)
