I have a 26 year old SF/PF that was injured for two weeks. At the time of injury his GS was 9. His injury lifted in the 2nd week with his GS down to 7. My team still had a scrimmage remaining that week so I played him 48+ and his GS returned to 9 at the update. His ST is 2.

I've had pretty disappointing results training game shape the few times I tried it.

Like multiple players that got 55-65 minutes with *no* increase in game shape! Another player got 82 minutes & his game shape still dropped!! & that's with a massage doctor. Now, a few players I didn't care about did increase their game shape. (a few guys that got 25-35 minutes only). Also, keep in mind my players had only been playing at most 70 minutes a week all season the last time i trained game shape. So it's not the effect from a prior week.

Of course maybe I just had bad luck?

Yes, it seems incredibly random. & the results have always been frustrating for me. For players with proper minutes (about 60) there seemed almost no difference than *not* training GS.

BTW, I think the player I mentioned with 82 minutes dropped to respectable GS! There were a couple crazy results though.

I wonder if the only value for GS training is when players are way outside the proper minute range? Like for an injured player... or when a bunch of starters play 90-100 minutes perhaps. Maybe their GS might only fall 1 level instead of 2-3?

i did it early in the season, where you had imho a very good effect cause nearly all players have space to improve.

And another time mid season, i could play my stars a bit more and/or get a good boost for a single match and especially at high division i think a won "away" or tv game is worth more then a training(especially when you have and old roster like mine).

Well, the few times ive practiced GS my players usually go up to 9, with a few on 8. But those times ive kept my players at healthy minutes/week.
Anyhow, we will see what the outcome is this Friday!

Strange, havent noticed that... ive trained quite a few players in 1-pos with only 48 mins a week in the last seasons, and they usually have 8 or 9 in GS.

right, i forgot about that. training GS the 1st week of the season does make a big difference. or all-star week, depending on your situation.

when i was still in lower divisions i tried it before the playoffs (for a single game boost like you say), but it felt like a waste. i see what you're saying though & it makes sense.

it is also a difference of value, betwen your and mine situation.

You can easier afford to play trainees and still be succesful, while i had normally to train players who are wel develope before and don't raise their value that much(you can make it much more efficient then i do currently but not as good like you without sacrifying your succes).

The other difference is the value of extra won games, for me the difference betwen a lost and a won game before, in my none championship season around 70k i believe it is not more then 20k in your league.

Also constantly training gs and reducing the roster should safe me more salary then you, so training GS get more and more intresting the "stronger" your team gets. I would advice it for a rookie just for very very important games, while it could make sense to train it constantly as a div 1 team.
