First of all, I really like the extra contribution of the BBs lately, I seem to see a lot more communication with the users (it might be just me of course), thnx for the given info again.

I'm confused about your statement of shot blocking though. You say it doesn't contribute to the ID, but as far as I know it does. The player rating of players with shot blocking is significantly higher than players without blocking, so that might lead to the conclusion that shot blocking surely contributes to the defense. It would be very logical as well of course if you guys implented that in the GE from the start, since (from my own 'live' experience it's very iritating to see a 'hand in your face' all the time.) This hand (the SB ability pbb) make it severly harder to shoot, even without blocking the shot, so it contributes to the defense of your squad.

I've got a quote of Charles here as well saying SB contributes to ID, but it's quite old so I don't know if it's still right, maybe you can check it out if you've got some time left;

1. Blocking does contribute to inside defense, but the much stronger effect is simply that some shots are blocked rather than becoming either made or missed.

The shotblocking attempt shoulde be influenced by shooters's FT skill.

You talked about this,after you have said "we talk about inside shots"...

This is true.... but my point is that the size of the effect can be measured in terms of how many shots were actually blocked. There are no shots which shot blocking affected which were not blocked.... so shot blocking is a good skill it does turn shot attempts into shot blocks which does reduce your opponents shooting percentage which is a good thing... but there are so few of them a game that this effect is perhaps not strong enough. Because in reality shot blockers affect more shots than just the ones they actually block... or that would be my claim.

I could simply turn up the size of the shot blocking effect and have more blocked shots.. and maybe that has to be done too... but the argument is that i should turn it up to the point where shot blocking matches reality, and whether at that level that the benefit of shot blocking is fully realized in the simulation. I would argue that it is not.

I of course am biased as I played center and averaged 5.5 blocks a game in HS.. so i think shot blocking is maybe more important than it really is.

I will also say that I do think in reality those who try to block a lot of shot do foul more.. though I don't think I want that part of BB because I dont want training a good player a little bit more in shot blocking to make him worth less because he fouls out all the time. Since there is no way to "untrain" it would be very bad for an owner to discover he invested training in his star player and actually made him less valuable.

Wait a sec, over in the SF thread... aren't you arguing the exact opposite point of view w/r/t changing a bad design vs. penalizing users who have planned according to that design?

I think that trying to block the shot should be only by best blockers on the field and who doesn't know that, doesn't do that. So than will be more blocked shots by great blockers. That's the only thing where I would like to see an difference if there isn't already.

in this case i would say, many trainers trained shot blocking because they thought that it is usefull, so they waste probadly training because it ain't clear in the rules and in the players rating that it is doesn't worth it ;) In this case i could understand an adjustement moreover, because blocking even isn't the fastet training.

And the non blocking center will still work i thing, the adjustement must not be soo big.

the charles quote, was more unclear and even the centers with high blocking was pretty sure in the overall rating think and the perfomes ain't that bad too, maybe because the relativ skill different in the game.

+ Juice will every thread juiced in the help forum with a direct to the newbie help, who ask for center skills and their blocking is fourth important skill ;) That what i say little effort to review.

if it doesn't exist already (it's hard to tell because blocks aren't clearly shown in the match viewer) i'd like to see a sort of intimidation factor with a player waiting for a while to take another shot after being blocked

BTW, i always thought what the OP suggested was already in the simulation
