True. But if making posts in the help (newbie) forum, as an experienced (and high balled) user, people are going to put a lot of weight into your comments. Especially comments like: "training isn't really worth it", without giving any context.

If I had said in my opinion training isn't really worth it at the moment, would that have been better?

In my eyes, it looked like you were putting it out there as a statement of fact.

I think that the way I said it indicated that it is an opinion. Perhaps I wasn't clear though so I apologise.

As for your specific situation, I am not sure. But you gave some example about spending x dollars on trainees and only getting y dollars back. Why not spend $0 on a really low potential 19-20 year old, short player with a few guard skills and mediocre outside d. Take his outside d to proficient (maybe 10 weeks training?). I think you could make around 200k on such a move, probably more than you could make training FTs and stamina. And if the market improves at all, maybe you make even more money (really, can the market get any worse at this point?).

Okay consider this: I buy 3 cheap low potential young trainees with mediocre OD. Lets say I spend 10 weeks training outside defence to get it to proficient. And lets say I sell each of the players for 200k profit. That is 600k over 10 weeks of training. That is 60k a week profit from training. Take away 10 to 15k for the salary each week for those 3 trainees. That leaves 45k a week profit from training. However, I want to train my draftees that I get in the draft, so I can't pick up a player now because I won't be able to train much at all between now and the time I get my draftees.
Also, 45k a week isn't much. Especially if it means that I have to play the trainees in my league games, which means I will probably lose those games.
So in my opinion, for my team, I am far better of training free throws, stamina and gameshape for my older players and concentrate on winning all my league games to jump in to 5th place, and then list all my players for 1k during the week before playoffs.
I think I would make a lot more money doing it this way, but this is just my opinion.

Fair enough. Do you mind giving an example so that I can try to avoid it.

For many new teams, even without NT prospects, single position is the best choice.

That is in your opinion though. And in that thread people seemed to agree with the opinion I gave.
Oh well, people can either take the advice I give in a thread, or they are free to ignore it.
I'm just trying to help.

Beanerz and Scipio agreed.
And I think iwen thinks 2 position is better based on his post there.
I suppose I overestimated the strength of the NBBA then.
If division 1 teams don't have 40k starters for all 5 positions then I am quite surprised with the result as I think a lot of div 2 teams have close to that.
Consider my team,
PG: 29k
SG: 33k
SF: 13k
PF: 50k
C: 59k

If division 1 teams don't have a huge improvement on that then I am surpirsed.

Most teams would beat me in depth, but I don't think they would be any better at gameshape or enthusiasm management. These are not particularly difficult.

And like you said, most NBBA teams have many players over 40k salary, and I said that I think starters should have at least 40k salary in div 1. Seems to line up to me.

"Let me remind you: you are on the record as saying that you CT every third or fourth game..."
Enthusiasm management is not just about what your enthusiasm level is. It is about keeping your enthusiasm at a good level for the matches that require it. And if you read that thread where I said it I was responding to the question about whether anyone uses CT in normal league games.

You are taking things that are written too literally. Majority of what people say on the forums is opinion, you have success doing things your way and I've obviously had success doing things my way.
