didnt seem offensive to me though. Mistakes always happen


I could see how it might be if there's tension between the people of the two countries. I am certain it wasn't intended as offensive, just a joke because the names are similar (as the Slovenia/Slovakia one, or Niger and Nigeria). Sometimes things that might inflame people in a region (e.g., the nation that wishes to be known as "The Republic of Macedonia" which, I hear, is quite a heated issue) and just fly over the heads of outsiders.

When I was little, I used to think that Croatia and Paraguay were the same thing. I don't know why. As far as I know now, those countries have nothing in common.

That is correct. Along with so many countries that I don't think I could name them all. Though they didn't all split together.
