My thoughts about this "MJ vs LBJ topic"
1st - Some wrong information in the first post...MJ have 13 AllStar Apearences. the number 14 is the Playoff Apearences.
2nd - One thing that is missing is the time that each player had for doing those numbers...for do those numbers, MJ needed 38.3 minutes per game, and LBJ needed 40.1 minutes (just see in the nba site, it's there). So this leads to a conclusion..if they had the same amount of playing time (40 minutes for example), MJ would had almost 2 more minutes for improve his stats...and if you think "2 minutes doesn't make any changes in those numbers" , imagine +2 minutes in each Michael Jordan game...2x 1072 (Jordan's games) = 2144 extra minutes in field....then we could compare (in a fair way) jordan with LeBron in terms of numbers.
3rd - Like someone already said it , they're from different generations...so we couldn't never compare in a fair way both of players...but we can try, can't we :P ?
Imagine players from both generations...In my point of view, Michael's generation had better defenders then actually exist in NBA. So in that perspective, Michael's numbers are harder to get then LeBron's numbers.
4rd - Different generations = different tactics. No question that in terms of body, lebron have a better body then MJ. BUT!, the stuff for gain muscle and stay healty are WAY more advanced that they were in michael's time. If Jordan had the same body threatment that LeBron had, I believe that those numbers would had tendency to increase..
5th - AND MAYBE the only topic that LeBron fans can say that LeBron is better then MJ. Wade once in a press conference said that "1 guy doesn't win championships. If you put 5 guys against one, for how good that player is, he would lose against those 5." Once again, renember Jordan and LeBron's teams...Jordan teams were BETTER then LeBron's teams...
In one hand we've guys like Rodman, Pippen...in other hand we've Varejão and shaq (in a late carrer situation). If in one hand better team leads to more championships (that's why Jordan have way more titles then LeBron , and this is the thing that fans of LeBron can complain), in the other hand, it's phenomenal how Jordan with so many stars in his team had the skills of having those numbers , and teammates' numbers were fantastic as well....in LeBron part, he had amazing numbers...but besides him who else had those numbers?
Is easier having better numbers if they pass the ball to you more often, if your team fail more (which makes easier to grab rebounds)...don't you think? And by the way, James is a SF...Michael Jordan a Guard, so it's way more easier to grab rebounds if you are LeBron.
SO after this, my personal conclusion is : We can't , in a fair way, compare both players. Yet if you compare both generations, Michael's numbers are harder to get then LeBron's numbers. And michael have more titles, etc etc...but that it's just fair to compare in LeBron's final years of carrer...
