Dear nat,

I am sorry I broke your small forward. Please accept my apologies, I know what it's like to lose a player for five weeks. One of my players, Zingale, would be so much better if he didn't have the same five-week injury only a few games after I paid a ton of money for him in the hopes of training him into the best guard I ever had. I am still traumatized from that experience. Next time I will try to only "slightly ding" your players.

Sincerely,
chihorn

I figured it out!

The Big 8 always losses the conference battles because the Great 8 focuses on league games and the Big 8 wants to do well in the USA Tournament.

Big 8 teams left in cup- 4
Great 8 teams left in cup- 0

Keep it up Big 8ers!

In the 11 seasons I've been in this league, the Big 8's only won 3 titles, though two of them came in the last two seasons when the Big 8 was finally looking to be on par with the Great 8. Season 18 was the other time a Big 8 team won, and that was a 2nd place team that pulled off the amazing feat. (The Great 8 has seen a 4th place team win a league title before. Sherlock, remember the Jack Rabbits?) We used to keep track of the wins and losses in interconference games and there were some seasons that the Big 8 just didn't even show up. As I write this, only one Great 8 team has a losing record, and that team has more wins that the bottom two Big 8 teams combined.

Historically, this really has been a league that's had a much much stronger Great 8, and some seasons a Big 8 looks really good coasting through a conference with little competition until the league finals comes around... It's no coincidence that the Big 8's back-to-back titles have come during seasons when the competition got tighter (and the Great 8 payrolls did come down the last few seasons). I think it's fair to say that this season is looking a lot like the past seasons when the top of the Big 8 might look scary (I'm expecting to get trounced on Saturday...), but the higher level of competition in the Great 8 will keep the leaders sharper heading into the playoffs. We'll see, but I'm thinking Anchorage is looking like the team to beat right now.

Thanks for the shoutout. I have had good luck with no injuries till this point. Hopefully that continues but I highly doubt it.

Good write up chihorn! It'll be interesting to see how the rest of this season shakes out, especially how some of us Big 8 teams start to do after we've finished up in the cup (I think I might have lost to Anchorage this past week either way though). I'll agree that there's definitely a lot more depth on the Great 8 side but I'm not sure if I agree that tougher competition makes you better in this game. I'd much rather face weak competition during the season and be able to focus on Game Shape, training and enthusiasm without having to worry about winning league games.

Sure, New York City got the Super Bowl this year (okay, technically it was in New Jersey...), but that's nothing compared to getting the Season 26 USA III-1 All Star Game! Too bad the Chunks couldn't get more than a couple of backups into the game in front of the home crowd, but welcome to the Rat Hole Arena for the All Star Game! (The biggest highlight of the season for my team so far! Yeah, that's how the season's been going...)
