Defining a player to play Starter, Backup and as a Reserved (using any possition) means that this player is intended to play 48 minutes (if possible)

It may already be implemented, but I bet it does not.

Currently, when using a single player to cover Starter, Backup and Reserved at a single position it means that unlesshe will fould out or get injured he is supposed to play (up until bugs...) 48 minutes.
BUT
I'm not sure what will happen, in case they will be set to play Starter, Backup and Reserved but at different possitions.
This player is still expected to play a full game (48 minutes).

Wrote that (again...)
The thing is that in case you wnat him to play (for example) PG as starter, SG as backup and PG as reserve, there is a chance that he will not get (I believe) that 48 minutes, and I believe that he should have also on that case.

If you want one player to play 48 mins and set him in all slots on that position and dont have more then 9 players (two for each other positions) you will get 48 minutes in 99 out of 100 games.

I wish! With foul outs, injuries and coach brain farts I think it is a lot closer to 90%, I would say at least 2-3 times a season I have to switch to two position training because something screwed up.

No, I would not necessarily want the poor guy to play 48 min. I use such a pattern, or a PG-SG-SF type pattern quite often, and I have no 48-min aim.

It is a fact that using a single player as Starter, Backup and Reserved (SB&R) at a single position will result (most of the times - unless injured, fouled-out, or a bug...) of 48 minutes for that player.

I will also guess that in case you will use a single player both as your SB&R at more than a single position, he will still most likely play 48 minutes.

In any case, one that asks a player to play SB&R is taking at least a chance for that.
Usually, he means it this way (48 minutes). Otherwise, he will not use this option.

but isn't also a bit uncertainity about the minutes desired in the mix also for training, so that sometimes a totally exhausted player get benched them for 2 minutes isn't so weird for me.

No it does not happen.
If that player is the SB&R at a specific position he will keep playing.

At least - this is true at most of the time, which makes it the expected behavior for SB&R of a player on different positions.

in this case your change would be pointless, since the guy play 49 minutes anyway and there isn't a uncertainity in it.
