Expand your arena to around 8000 ~ 11000 seats total before obtaining a high salary team. Don't buy players that are too old (older than 35) because they get skill drops. Those are the most important things I can think of at the moment.

I figured that if everyone plays to the best of their potential, it will be much more interesting than a few people constantly killing everyone else. Yes, its competetive, but there is also room for making friends on here.
