They have an opinion, their opinion is that is too early to judge the effect of cross-training. Most who hate it can't even explain properly how cross-training works.


It's not complex at all.

Hypothetical training speed of say....IS

Last season .4

This season .36
Passing/Insert random skill .04


It's a fantastic change....-_-

Not having an opinion is not "having an opinion". Actually, as a survey designer, it seems to me that this questionnaire is actually biased to make you choose the option of "not having an opinion". But that's another issue.

Anyhow, I can tell you a little story. I used to work for a government department that had particularly low morale and very high staff turnover. They were forced to do an employee opinion survey to find out what the problems were and unfortuately I was brought in for the project. Myself and some expert statisticians told them to leave the "no opinion" numbers out of the analysis.

But because management did not actually want people to see that the employees hated their jobs, or actually make any effort to fix anything, they made sure to include the "no opinion" answers in all analysis. That way, it only looked like 25% of the people hated their jobs instead of 50%.

Actually, some people would tell you to even take the neutral answers out (since what is important is those who agree or disagree, since those are the people who enjoy the game more or less because of the change). So that would mean, so far, 36 people disliked it as opposed to 12 who like it. A shocking 75% so far.

The answer is "It's too early to...", not "no opinion".
I should have known you have knowledge of surveys to try and distort it like that ;)

We are reluctant to change, our gut reaction is to say no in the face of uncertainty as a form of protection.
The NO will want to voice his opinion, he will behave actively in a mechanism of defence.

Simplistic polls don't work :)
But it's a way of gathering people and getting opinions.

Poorly designed polls don't work. Simplistic, unbiased, randomly sampled surveys do.

Of course, this isn't a random survey, so it is complete garbage either way. But I just wanted to throw some interesting thoughts on survey design and analysis out there.

Please understand, I am with you here. I'm not liking the changes. But you have to read a bit more closely. It says the average player in the game will train 10% worse, with the other 10% going to a completely random skill.

That's only the average player. It also seems to explain that, for a player with all equal skills, he will train just about as fast as he does now (I assume that means no random training, too).

Still a very weird system.

The news keeps getting worse for me every season with recent changes. Every strategy I try to utilize is taken away and this one is utterly useless and should be an option (hell, make it the default option) for users, but not a requirement. This change greatly helps some teams and players like SF trainees, pure Cs, etc and kills others who are trying to use a cost-effective strategy.

Now my favourite player will receive more? than 10% of his already slowed down training towards skills I don't need him to have and one skill that I'm vehemently against him having which is rebounding. I need every advantage I can get and this isn't it.

As an aside, I would not mind the cross training if the manager could decide what to cross train. In other words, decide what primary skill to train and what other skill to cross train (or even if they should cross train).

This would be nice.
