Prize Money for all star appearances should never be in this game as long as the selection process is still a crapshoot. e.g a 10k player starting over a 50k player

If this is fixed or if some managers have control over who is selected or not then yes prize money would be a good reward.

I totally agree with you.
Managers from the same Division Group should be able to vote the lineup for the all-star game (withour permisson to vote on their own players).

But for me the prize money issue is just an idea.
I guess more ideas would be welcome.

I agree with all of this especially merch for all star appearances, though I'd like a user voting system to be implemented.

Check the Suggestions they are important

So why would anyone vote when voting is strictly hurting their players chances of making the team. There would be few enough coaches voting without this disincentive.

I know Monkey will disagree but in order to get coaches voting they need to have an incentive to vote. So my suggestion is that for each position, for their conference all-star team, they are to nominate two players, and only one per position can be from their team. So each coach will probably nominate five of their own players and five that are not. The second part of my incentive is that the players on the WINNING team only get $10,000 each for their manager. It is a trivial amount in the big picture but may be enough to get people off their bums and voting. Maybe if they want the money they will actually vote the best players in the league not just thrie own.

Two small incentives may get 50% of active coaches voting, your one massive disincentive will get close to 0% of coaches voting.

I agree! :)

I think rewards/incentives are fine as long as the end result of the player selection isn't a crap shoot. You can not justify a 10k C starting or making the all star team over a 50k C or the fact a 50k C that plays at PG for training gets voted in at PG over better 20k PGs.

As long as the selection processes is better and maybe with a bit more input from managers rather than the "fans", then the whole rewards system makes perfect sense.

I like this idea of prizes for all-star players and it's something that definitely should be implemented. It also gives incentive to try and get your best players to make it.

Allow me to quote myself from another thread...

"I already suggested this before but i couldn't find the topic so...excuse if anyone feels that i'm being too repetitive...:).
Anyway, i would want to suggest a more interactive process on selecting players to the ASG. Right now, the process does not have nothing to do with the users and, even thou the best players end up being chosen (al least, most of the time...even in the real NBA ASG are always dubious selections...), i think it would be good for the BB game to gey users involved in the all-star voting...So, here it goes how:

1- Each user could vote for both all-star squads.
2 - Each user could vote for the best 3 players per position (with position being defined by BB and not by where the player actually played the majority of his minutes...). For example, the best PG gets 5 points, the 2nd gets 3 points and the 3rd gets 1 point. The process is repeated for all the positions in both squads, regardless of the conference in which the user is competing..Of course, you wouldn't be able to vote for your own players...
3 - With the ASG being Wednesday, this voting process could take place between Friday and Monday (i know this is a minor question but, anyway, important...)
4 - When the voting is closed, all points are counted and the player with more points in each position would be the starter with the sub being the second.
5 - This would be at full display on leagues with no bots. Anyway, in miscellaneous leagues (with users and bots), it could work as well if you only take in account the real users voting. In 100% bot leagues, the selection process could remain as it is right now.

Not sure what this could take in terms of game engine but i think this would be a nice upgrade to get users motivated during the all-star week, which has one less comepetitive game and is a bit of a down week during the season...

Thanks in advance for your attention and keep up the good work. Cheers!"

What about this? Glad to see some ideas about the ASG..

thought id chime in on this debate.

The idea of having voting AND reward, for an all-star game, would introduce more opportunities for collusion, and, as other people have pointed out, if my biggest opposition in my league is going to receive a reward for having his player voted in, why on earth would i vote for him?

So im suggesting, scrap the voting. It would be nice, i know, but i think its just too hard to implement with too many variables and crap involved with it.

So just have the reward. Keep the current all-star 'voting' proceedure, but make it more transparent and visible to all users. Such that everyoen knows that the PF with the best numbers per 48 mins will make the team.
This way, people can make game-management decisions on whether to focus on getting a guy in the all-star squad, or whether to keep training him out of position, or etc etc.

This solution would add interest to the ASG and also an added component of game-player management, which would be interesting and fun to see evolve over the course of the season.

So whilst my idea removes the interactive component of the voting, it introduces the interactive component of game-player management.
