the question i would post how many times did it happen that a level 4 with that low salary get sold by that cheap?

if its once every a number of times then it still defeat the fact that you need luck, but on a normal basis we still pay a hefty premium

thanks for the numbers haha appreciate that finally concrete stuff

I literally just watched a level 4 trainer with a 14k salary sell for 3k. 14k isn't a great weekly rate, but it's hardly oppressive. Too many people have the mindset that they've got to have the absolute best (either in trainer level, so they overpay based on that), for trainee potential (when they never even use the full potential anyway), or to get the absolute cheapest trainer and pay heavily upfront for that. It's quite alright to be economical instead, choose a slightly less ideal trainer for a much cheaper price and be content that you've still got a staff member that you can sustain financially for a good time and can replace cheaply when the time comes.

You are talking about a level 5 (superior) trainer; hrudley was giving an example of a level 4 (advanced) trainer. If you want a level 5, then yes, you are currently going to have to pay that much. That's one of the reason many people say that a level 5 isn't worth the cost given how much cheaper it is to get a level 4.

The only trainer selling at $180k in the next couple of hours is a level 5 - Eric Miller. There are 7 level 4s who will sell before him, only 1 who has a higher salary and all are currently have a bid of $5k or less. Some don't even have a bid.

EDIT - Miller just jumped to over $350k.
