Except, as a fifth place team, your fans are going to feel worse about your season as next season starts. Meaning that your gate revenues next season are likely to be lower than the would have been if you finished fourth.

And since your whole league now knows you're a tanker, they're more likely to go after you in league games (never know when you'll decide to tank a game for one reason or another), thus making you more likely to lose games you might have won if people decided you weren't worth the risk of going after, further depressing your future gate receipts.

This doesn't sound right.

Fact: I was 400k worse off by not finishing 5th. So you are telling me I can recover more than 400k next season by finishing 1-2 place higher? I can't work it out. I really can't.

If tanking might have any impact on your results the reverse is true I'm afraid. Just ask yourself, if your opponent is going to tank, what would you do? Will you field your full strength team? If people know you tank a lot, they will speculate and field a weakened team in the hope that you might tank and field a better team elsewhere.

I was pointing out the 5th place problem right after the change was introduced and now we finally start to form some resistance against it.

If you guys want to outthink yourselves about the difference of an immediate 5th place payday and a small bonus for the next season for 4th place finishers, you should also think about deflation, decreasing salaries and transfer prices...

He earned 139k but u have to dedut the salaries... And again that comes less then if he finished 5th. If u are 4th and loose the first game of playoffs its always better to finish 5th.

Ashburn—I'm sorry, but you're completely missing the whole point of Beener's premise: that virtually every team finishing 5th is better off financially than the 3rd and 4th place teams. I would take his claim a step further by saying that many 2nd-place finishers would be better off.

Yes, but not every as I shown. And this is argument of 4th and 5th.

edit: and I'm not saying 5th is better. but there are exceptions to teams that meet certain conditions to qualify as so.

Yes, but not every as I shown.

An exception that only confirms the rule.

What's with these people?? All I did was show say and show some examples that there are teams that earn more at 4th than 5th. That's all. If you want to say most of the time I would agree, but sometimes there will be some of these. I am very articulate and precise when it comes to numbers, so if I see someone say all 100 people manage to pass an exam, but when there is proof that a few didn't, I will show. And I did.

So if you want to say those who earn more at 4th who earn more than 5th actually means 5th is always better, then so be it. But as I've shown, it is not always.

I finished 5th in my league and ended up gaining over 200k in
Merchandise and tv contract. The guy finishing 4th lost 200k, so when you look at it I got a huge financial benefit. Yet perhaps next season my attendance is worse than his? I don't know; that's an experiment we can look into. Anyhow let's all please get back on topic?

OK, I'll stop here. So if people still want to say 5th is always good, I don't care anymore. I showed some examples that it's not always. But yeah most of the time it is.
