What follows probably contradicts in part my previous post

It has been a trend in Australia in recent seasons that many capable experienced Division One Managers have opted out of competing in the ABBL to instead focus on training young Aussie players in Divs 2 or 3.

Whilst it is s strength of this game that it allows many strategies to be succesful to enable Managers to climb up through the Divisions, it is my opinion that the cheap prices of ageing 100K plus salaried players, has encouraged many Managers to engage in the "less enjoyable and sustainable" strategy of buying geriatrics, rather than the more engaging and rewarding but sadly more time consuming and expensive strategy of training players up.

Managers are obviously going to be less attached to players that they buy in rather than those that they train up, so it follows that Managers are going to be less attached to a game where they just buy in players, rather than a game where they spend seasons training players who they build up attachments to.

So I suggest that the game evolves a little bit backwards to the state it used to be in, where the training of players, "strategy" is a more obviously a better choice than the buying in of "geriatrics strategy"

Thus, we should introduce the minimum transfer value.

One interesting thing. Will the market still be full of good players after two-three seasons? If less and less managers choose to train, so those, who still do it will be rewarded more. Prices in the market will go up and training will become profitable again.

Of cource, we have to assume that number of managers will become stable sooner or later.

You're GM and you're "active" on the forum, I've checked right now, Forrest, Mark and Charles left the game?
So only Marin and Patrick are still here as BB?

Talking about poor starting rosters. Sure this will not be a big issue with only 1 other real team in the country but he has nothing worth training at all. Nothing......

This is a huge deal for a new team. Having a guy or 2 who you can make a long term part of your side it Vital to keeping new players IMO. If I knew this guy I would suggest let the team go bot and sign up again in the hope of getting a decent player.

No it is not a good idea. Being in a 2 team comp means he can spend his 10 draft points and at least get something better then he has. If he knows what to do within the next week. He can buy and draft a trainee but if new players could keep one of their guys long term their connection with the game would be greater and the chance of them throwing it away less.

Good point. Seems this thread has been a bash fest in a way.

If the creators of BB can sift through the garbage I think some posts have been credible with some good ideas.

I would like to see the switch from flash to HTML5. I would be able to use BB more effectively on newer tech. Other than that, which would be a big switch I hear, I LOVE ME SOME BB.
