I find really absurd the argument of losing THE NBA FINALS to prove their model is flawed. I don't know about you but I'd say 4 rings, 5 Finals and 14 50-win seasons IN A ROW in a span of 14 years is quite successful. And losing an NBA Finals just by a hair, because you missed a free throw [Leonard] or gave up an offensive rebound, well, I think these guys are pretty good.

Tank teams that never win titles fail to do so not because tanking is inherently bad [if it were, nobody would do it], but because of bad overall management or bad luck or both. Managing an NBA team has many aspects where you can screw up all the time [ask the Buffalo Bravez/San Diego-L.A. Clippers and their general manager, maybe one of the worst of all time, Elgin Baylor]. Perhaps your draftee injured often [Greg Oden, Brandon Roy] or he just plain died [Len Bias] or he was a nuclear mushroom disguised as an NBA player [Kwame Brown], etc, etc. And can you blame the Hornets for drafting Kobe Bryant and deliver him to Jerry West and the Lakers? Well, looks like someone invested his 4 draft points/40k per week there and got 5-balls all over the place, and that was Jerry, not the Hornets.

well, if a guy injures in the NBA, they don't just discount their salary. the commissioner will just say "bad luck, gentleman", and will laugh all the way to the bank to collect the luxury tax.

@LA-Karangula:

overextending is not the same as "overspending". overextending relates to weekly economic flow, not the total money you have in your bank account.

well, Pop did it again this year and nothing happened [it wasn't against the Heat, nor was it a national TV game, conceded]. Also he said he was going to do what he thought was better for the Spurs, not the TV networks.

but still, this isn't even a slap in the hand. it was a specific event. and the Spurs actually weren't worried about tanking/losing. now, tanking goes all the way in the NBA. actually, they had to impose the Draft Lottery because of it. and let us not forget that mr. Stern is an employee of the Spurs too, not the other way around. so, actually, since you brought that event of last year, it was pretty funny to see that: your employee fines you a quarter of a mill for going about your own bizz??? hilarious!

There's the NBA and there are all the other leagues in the world, where it just doesn't make sense to tank: no draft, no millions and billions of TV-money.

True that.
But come on man, thats was a blow below the belt. Just by bringing up Stern into the mix, you had everybody reading this thread, going into panic mode and heading straight to their team's page to check their cash reserves!

i have just 2 simple question.

Naturally answer should be the same for both, or better i can answering after experiment, but i try:

1)GDP has the same effect for every attack? Example: If i predict right focus and pace, both in Look Inside i obtain the same advantage if i predict right Low Post or Motion or R&G or every other attack? or they've some different balance?

2) if i use GDP for a perimetral attack and i use an internal defence (2-3) who "win"? are they the same or defence i use affects more than GDP choice?

I think I can answer this question, but let someone "official" confirm if possible.

If you predict inside offense, your inside defense - and only inside defense - strengthens up. Same for outside defense. Balanced offense - probably both defenses strenghten up a bit. Not sure yet how pace guessing affects your opponent though. Maybe your defense is better during first 7-8 seconds of opponent's attack if you guess fast?

Overextension Tax formula:

Total Expenses:
This week's Player Salaries
This week's Staff Salaries
This week's Scouting

Total Revenue:
Last known Attendance
Last week's Merchandise
Last week's TV Contract

This week..., Last week..., Last known and No income of National Tournament Game.

I think this is not logical.

My business last week:
Expenses: 234 888
Revenue: 458 231
Balance: 223 343

Overextension Tax: 35 826!!!!

I think there is something wrong:(
