Big 8 is really interesting conference. Besides those Five team that fighting for four playoff spots, there are also two teams that playing spoiler role, Lycans BB and Chai Chee.

@Rane : You're against FXS today.. wish you luck... ha...

Whampoa @ Sessioes Doers .. SD is very hard to beat at home... the team is very deep of bench players...

With two bot teams at Great 8, again will have three new teams coming to SBBL next season (Hello Wang Xiang Jia).

Roberto Paz 41 pts brought Sessioes Doers escaped from Esplanade Basketball Team with OT 101-87.

All the teams here wished they don't want to play at WTD Arena. But the Esplanadians managed to think different. Playing full of body contact inside, the ESPs managed to frustate Balkhausen and team almost the whole game.

Intense play of Primo Mosberger led the ESP for 28-17 1st Q lead and 10 pts lead on Halftime, before SD's Roberto Paz spark the rally on the 4th quarter. SD seemed safe when they outscored ESP 25-11, clinging for 5 point lead with 3 points remaining, but ESP weren't give up yet. Five different scored each bucket to rally ESP back, even lead 81-79 after Rytis Vengeliauskas power dunk with 30 seconds remaining. Tough luck, SD's local hero Lim Wee Min managed to save SD's night after he hit the jumper off Cees Jan Hagebeek assistance. From there, the game went to OT and SD's deep lineup managed to tame down their exhausted opponent.

SD is led by Paz 41pts, surviving Eike Balkhausen poor play. Phil Hanson scored 20pts and 24rebs. Jan Hagebeek has 15 assists and Lim Wee Min scored 18pts, played 53 minutes last night.

Mosberger led ESP with 24pts and 12rebs, Podalski with 18pts. Tanner Brannon has triple double with 13pts 13assists 11 rebounds to go with 4 steals.

Meanwhile on All-Stars De Grandeur Arena, Konrad Krassowski 31pts led the Whampoa All-Stars to outlast Singapore Showstoppers 122-103. Whampoa blasted out 38-15 run on the 3rd quarter for 30 pts lead, although the Showstoppers dropped 42 pts on the 4th, but it was too late.

Ng Chao Huat scored 24pts and 11assists. Arthur Hottinger & Omri Arnon scored 20pts and 16pts. Singapore Showstoppers Noel Lima and Pedro Pineda each scored 22pts.

With their latest victory, Whampoa, who trailed 1 game from Showstoppers, can clinch the last Big 8 playoff spots if they managed to win their last league match, provided the Showstoppers lost theirs. But Whampoa chance will be slim, as they have to defeat Sessioes Doers at the WTD Arena, while Showstoppers will have an easier match with ESP.

On the Great 8, the longtime rivalries continues between Pekanbaru Jaguars and Fat Alexander, as both team will match up on their last league games to fight for the Conference top spots. The odds will go to Fat-A, as they are very strong team at their homecourt. Jaguars' Petrus Alexandersson & Lim Eng Ze seems weren't at their top form yet, as both are just healed from their 14 day injury.

Jaguars hold off Fat-A 106-94, clinch top seed on Great 8.

Both team always fought hard everytime they meet, maybe they forgot this ain't Playoff yet.

Petrus Alexandersson exploded with season hight 36pts and 26rebs, haste up the Jaguars for big lead on 2nd quarter and never turned back, ending the again the hard fought with nemesis Fat Alexander with 106-94.

With 30-27 after 1st quarter, the Jaguars start their run by keep pounding the ball to Petrus Alexandersson, who scored 10 on the period to bring Jaguars up 61-40 with 2 minutes left on 1st half.

Fat-A keeping Yeo off the floor at 3rd quarter to prevent more fouls, which give Jaguars for more breathing room as they don't have to deal with the league best perimeter player. And when Yeo comes back at 4th, it's already too late to rally Fat-A.

Jaguars' Huo Xiang Song dropped 27pts, 4 days after he scored 38pts. Tommy Kupila has 17pts and Petrus Debrier scored 10pts and 9assists.

Although frustated with foul trouble, Yeo still managed to score 27pts in 31 minutes. Zach Kutkin and Foong Chin Huat scored 20pts and 17pts.

On Big 8, Singapore Showstoppers managed to avoid elimination by defeating Esplanade with 107-94 combined with Whampoa loss to Sessioes Doers 103-112. Whampoa is out from playoff for second straight season.

SBBL - Season 17 - The Playoff...

With regular season ended yesterday, and Transfer Deadline has passed, SBBL teams now are ready for their playoff rumble. Whampoa All-Stars again have to wait for another season to end their second straight playoff drought, as the result of tight competition of Big 8 Divisions.

Big 8 QF1 - Singapore Showstoppers vs Sessioes Doers
The teams meet again after Tournament Semifinal battle, where SD edged Showstoppers 128-107. Their regular season were 1-1, where each team won at their opponent arena. This time, the game will be hosted by Sessioes Doers as the #1 seed of Big 8. The match will again will display the war of two prized bigman, Noel Lima and Eike Balkhausen. But SD will still a better team depth, even though the Showstoppers has acquired perimeter player Xiong Jiayun.
Edge : Sessioes Doers

Big 8 QF2 - Shohoku Backers vs Eric United
Battle of two most senior SBBL teams. Expect both team will produce an interesting game, as both teams have good enough players to amaze their crowds. Shohoku Backers will begin their quest for their three-peat Championship. They are still with the same squad last season, led by Sertug Acay, Agislios Kostis and Jason Peachey, with additions of two wingman Sebastian Darras and Isaac Nunes. The battle could be tough for Backers, as they might not have Aniol Soler in lineup due to injuries. Eric United new build team is showcasing another Fang Shuang Xiang giant Cedomir Gusic, who expected to dominate Sertug Acay and Jason Peachey, as both seems not yet in their form.
Edge : Shohoku Backers

Great 8 QF1 - Shwe Toe Ngal vs Pekanbaru Jaguars
Everyone when look at this match, they will straightaway pick Jaguars for semifinal match. But it's not as easy as people think. STN, who trashed Whampoa Allstars at their home court, and also were forcing Jaguars to win them by overtime, is taking the league attention of their recent strong play. Their young big three, Nikolas Lepka, Celso Valente and Jakub Ejankowsi are reason of that. Meanwhile Jaguars finally able to have their full team back, as Petrus Alexandersson and Lim Eng Ze are back into the lineup. Their strong play against Fat-A showed they are ready for playoff.
Edge : Pekanbaru Jaguars

Great 8 QF2 - Cheesecake - Fat Alexander
For this match, Fat-A seems to be able to take a breath against cheesecake, which are not the same team as last season. Felipe Massana was out for few weeks, costs Cheesecake some important games without their bigman. Although most of Cheesecake players are ready for playoff, they will be facing the MVP candidate Yeo Tse Hui and his sidekick, Gianpaolo Montecucco. Both players led the SBBL top #1 and #2 in scoring. Cheesecake defense are not much convincing, means if they let Fat-A Dynamic duo dominating the game, it means an easy win for Fat-A.
Edge : Fat Alexander

RL1 - Lycans BB vs Singapore Ballers
Singapore Ballers is going downhill and only have Alvise Gargano to compete. There's no way they can beat the Lycans BB, who has the Singapore best player FSX on their lineup and the Italian bomber Mike Bertero.
Edge : Lycans BB in two games

RL2 - Esplanade Basketball Team vs Crystal Chambers Cavaliers
Another one sided Relegation game. CCC has no more managers on their side, so ESP should won by Walkout.
Edge : Esplanade Basketball Team
