Prove it. I had a few foreign NT players and most of them lowered my merchandise.

I was using mostly foreign players all of my time in this game and made less than arverage merchandise. Now that I dumped all the big foreign names and run a mostly domestic roster I am way above league average in mechandise income. How is that possible?

i cannot specifically address the situation of having a foreign NT and its effect on merchandise. I can however reflect on the premise of Untrained local Scrub vs semi decent foreign player.

So starting with the sale of my longtime trainee Bob Vazquez I decided to make the move to homegrown.
I have a few untrained draft scrubs on my team from years past, namely my two Bigs in Colburn and Paul.
Prior to 1/7/2016 I had decent foreign players on my squad assisting my team in not relegating before I went homegrown
After 1/7/2016 I was Entirely American and only on 1/30/16 did i become entirely homegrown. so here you can see the Merch vs dates of player sales, pretty easy to work out who is american and who isnt but I can clarify if needed.

Of course this is a small sample size but as you can see the Merch on the week prior to becoming fully american was actually higher then the following 3 updates, only actually starting to rise when I got down to 6 homegrown players 4 of which are forever backups and sold 2 of my teams best american players at the time (strange?).

breaking it down further
11/23-11/30 lost 4k in merch but sold Vazquez and acquired 3 Foreign players, albeit trash. Along with 1 American.
12/7-12/14 Sold 2 Foreign, Purchased Prior Player in Rolands who started with my squad. Merch Rises over next few weeks.
1/11 Update No Foreign, Entirely American and Merch starts to drop.
2/1 Fully Homegrown Merch Rising!

I can't show you the results of going from 670k with foreign studs to 157k (below salary floor) mainly domestic dudes, but I estimate that my merchandise doubled in the meanwhile.

I don't know why only 14 merch updates are displayed, when we can see 20 salary updates.

EDIT: merchandise accounts for ~50% of my salaries. #swag #GetMoneyGetPaid #Dollabill

Merchandise has two components:

1) Roster nationality component: The higher the salary for players with your nationality in relation to the total salary the more merchandise
2) Player component: homegrown and NT players have a merchandise boost.

The two components are not always additive:
If you have for example a drafted NT player -> big boost in merchandise as it feeds into 1 AND 2
If you have a mostly home nationality roster and a foreign NT player the loss in component 1 might outweight component 2 and you see a loss in merch.

As most of the time foreign NT players tend to be the best players on a roster, the loss in merch is certain.

If I added a LaBron type player to my roster I would cut my merchandise in half. Makes no sense to me, but as I believe in a higher power there might be some reason behind it. To the maggots in the cheese, the cheese is the universe.

My team is a very long time homegrown. My first homegrown team is already sold and played in the second league PO,but I had used foreign players in the 3-d for promotion. Now the team will play always without foreign help. Would be nice if homegrown teams could play against each other.

Very nice thread :)

I was lucky with predictions on key moments last season, which allowed me to promote eventually.
However I can only handpick a few match this season to fight for a win (I did my best on TV in the opening and have the rival coming soon).
It means I'm demoting this one, but it won't be a setback. My next stay on II should be to win more matches, for a start, but not this one.
