The internet, and the world in general is full of morons who are most notably morons for the simple fact they are too stupid to realize how stupid they are. These idiots provide a foundation for frustration and confusion for the average person who is still, on the whole, pretty darn stupid.

I find this hilarious and sad. In my life, I've spoken with a lot of different people and sat (or stood) and listened to a lot of different conversations. So so so so so many people have this exact same thought of the rest of the world, but not themselves. Everyone is stupid... Except the person who's saying it.

I don't agree. I think that people lack humility, yes, and people are focused on being right, yes, but stupidity is not the reason for the flamewars. The reasons are simple: a lack of humility and Confirmation Bias (a concept everyone should look up).

I only make a comment because I feel that the "everyone else is stupid" argument is not just pointless, but detrimental to any kind of getting along, anywhere, and in any context.

I do like your points about Keyboard Warriors, though.

I'm curious, too. Are you trying to win by DTing?

Made me smile. Thanks

Something to ad to the intelligence thing... You compared it to height. I suggest that height is a great analogy but for a different reason, because each height is useful for a different purpose.

Just because someone is 7ft tall, doesn't mean he's better than someone who's 4ft (unless you play basketball, which is an incredibly "heightist" sport). Lots of people - I would venture to say most people - believe that they are more intelligent than the average. Talk to people, and listen, and this is easy to pick up. A lot of people go on to suggest that "most people are stupid" or below the average intelligence. I think there is a very easy explanation to this. We are all experts in our own fields of knowledge and also lack the humility that we are not in the fields of knowledge of others.

I see a lot of people who are very quick to identify that someone doesn't know the simplest things about a subject and, then, very quickly label them as stupid. A concreter does it to a shop assistant. A shop assistant does it to a cleaner. A cleaner does it to a concreter. What each person fails to realise is that the exact same thing can apply to them.

All this being said, I don't see a time soon when the humility will grow and people will generally acknowledge that they don't know some things.

Me included.

It is important to recognise those who do eat their humble pie, though. I hope people look out for those who do the good stuff

I think that with the lack of understanding of basic principles you're displaying, you're unlikely to be honest at this point.

I have a proposal for you and hrudey. Since inflation and high prices are good and realistic, I'd say we must all work together to push the prices further up!!!!!!!!!!! *-:)

I see what your guys are saying. I'm sorry, but I can't take seriously someone saying: the average NBA player was making 300k in the mid 80s, now the average player makes 5 million, therefore Buzzerbeater is a realistic simulation because the price of players is going up...

I teach professionally.
I do, too. I find it disappointing that a teacher labels others as morons because of their insecurities, rather than recognising why they are doing these things and then, using their expert knowledge in teaching and leading, helping them find a better way.

I simply won't ever take your stance about intelligence. Just because one person is "intelligent" in one way, doesn't mean their brain power is more powerful than another. This happens so much in the academic world and there is this assumption that one can only be intelligent if they are academic. It's nonsense and modern teaching and learning philosophies are proving that we are at the tip of the iceberg in terms of enabling people to reach their potentials. As a professional teacher, you should know that the modern educational practices are based on systems that are centuries old, often using beliefs that are several times older.

People probably don't vote well (this is an opinion) probably because of the exact reason I mentioned earlier: they don't know enough about politics to make a reasonable choice. Anyway... Don't get me started on politics...
