i ended up shooting 26 threes in my test game, and put the tactic on my ignore list ;)

No kidding!! You shot 26 3's with inside Isolation, and your opponent only had 2 more 3 point attempts with outside isolation! UGH!! I was planning to run Inside Isolation tonight, but last night chaged my mind, and this confirms that not only have I changed my mind preferring to stick with Look Inside, I may never try Inside Isolation in a real game.

Dwight Howard also hardly is getting any assists in Orlando. I would think the Offense is quite similar to the Magics, like mentioned before. I played Inside Iso tonight and my players took 26 3s. (2 OTs)
My primary SF alone attempted 11 3s. My C and PF (Best Players on my Team) took 26 shots combined while hitting only 12.

I wont play this tactic again soon, but i will test it out when i can get a good Shooting SF to play alongside my "dominant" Bigs.
Should work good against 2-3 Zones!

If your SF/SG/PG gets a whole lot of shots in Low Post tactics, it could indicate the following:
* Your IS on your PF/C is not good enough against the defenders ID or 2-3-zone.
* Your SF/SG/PG has a clear advantage with their IS against opponents ID and therefor thinks he has a better chance of scoring, hence the many shots.
* If you shoot a lot of three's in LP you should NOT play LP, atleast not against that defense.

Inside Isolation (still have not tested it) should be played with 4 good outside shooters with reasonable passing and with a dominant insideplayer with good passing for most effect in my opinion. If the insideplayer can't shake his defender, he kicks the ball outside and they take the shot or set the ball in motion. Don´t worry if the Insideplayer don't get to many assist, the outsideplayers might swing the ball a couple of times before taking the open shot. But don't take my word for it, havn't played it yet =)

I thought backing down a defender to get close to the rim and throwing up a hook shot or other inside manuevers require only inside scoring ability and not driving. Power forwards need to drive to the basket, centers mostly play with their back to the basket. Low post by definition should not require a center with good driving then. Otherwise if driving was involved in making low post moves you could play a PG at center and he should still be able to get off some kind of inside move.

Gary Payton was good at driving to the basket and, separately, executing post up moves inside. So I had the understanding that in this game as well driving is something players need to get to the basket when they are more than 3 steps away from it. But I could be wrong about how it works in BB.

Driving here is the capacity of creating your own shot, a center needs it when playing one on one.

Shaq was a great scorer because of his post moves, most of the centers just catch the ball and dunk or make a easy shot. Here the driving skill separates the two kinds.

Of course I was being serious. We were talking about driving, not handling, I agree that good centers have good handling. But Centers play closer to the basket than PFs. Barkley was a PF not a C. Like Amare Stoudamire, who is also good at 'driving' to the basket. Hakeem's moves and those of other centers were based on feints and other deceptive manuevers, very skilful no doubt, and mostly all back to the basket moves. But that's where the confusion is. If those moves are also taken to be part of 'driving' to the basket then there's no separation between the guard who drives to the hole by dribbling in from 25 feet out and a center who bullies or shimmies his way there from <10 feet out.

It would be best if driving exclusively meant 'dribbling' in this game and a separate skill was needed by the big men to execute moves close to the basket - which is why I thought inside scoring covered all such inside moves. If thats not how it is, then its a bit odd to think that a PG who has high 'driving' in this game will transform his guard skills into big man skills when playing as a center. But so be it.
