I'm going to try this as well I think, I think if more people try it and we can get more data we might be able to correlate the box scores to better predict the prospects we are potentially getting.

I guess it's about time to revive this thread. I encourage everybody who's scouting to record your box scores, then we can analyze the results and see what we can learn from it.

Jeroenderbar, I realize now that I'm probably going to lose our bet. There isn't enough data yet to form a good conclusion based on stats. However, I'm going to try my best and see what happens. So far I have one guy I'm targeting, a 6'1" 5/4 SG, A rating. He had the following stats:

38 Min, 7-15 FG, 1-3 3FG, 6-6 FT, 1 OR, 5 TR, 2 AST, 2 TO, 1 STL, 2 BLK, 2 PF, 21 PTS

The bet was only about primaries (that I could get at least 4 of 6 guard skills within one level), but I'll try all skills anyway. I'm predicting: 7/6/7/4/6/5 3/3/4/5 6/8

I'm curious to see if you guess accurately, good luck getting your guy.

Thanks. I found another guy, 6'3" 5/4 A- PG, here are his stats:

40 Min, 2-9 FG, 1-2 3FG, 1-1 FT, 0 OR, 1 TR, 9 AST, 4 TO, 2 STL, 4 BLK, 2 PF, 6 PTS

Seems more like a passing PG. Here's what I'm predicting for his skills: 5/6/7/5/7/7 2/5/1/6 7/5

The boxscores are interesting and I do believe they give you some information but we still have to remember that this is just a snapshot of 1 game. Take a 1 game snapshot of any player on your roster and it could easily make him look much different than his actual skill set.

Alright, tomorrow's the draft. Anybody who wants to record their box scores has to do it today if they haven't. Going into the draft, these are my top 5 choices:

And, did you complete the challenge succesfully or did your prediction turn out off?

Turns out I got both guys. First guy (Karl Pope):

Jump Shot: average Jump Range: average
Outside Def.: respectable Handling: average
Driving: inept Passing: inept
Inside Shot: atrocious Inside Def.: awful
Rebounding: inept Shot Blocking: inept
Stamina: mediocre Free Throw: strong

Experience: atrocious

Second guy (Kirby Thomas):

Jump Shot: inept Jump Range: respectable
Outside Def.: average Handling: respectable
Driving: awful Passing: respectable
Inside Shot: awful Inside Def.: respectable
Rebounding: atrocious Shot Blocking: average
Stamina: average Free Throw: pitiful

Experience: atrocious

I think I did it for the first guy, for the second guy I was off. So overall, I guess I'd say box score can be sort of reliable, but not something to totally depend upon.

Yeah, I think before you can draw any conclusions you'll need a larger sample size, otherwise luck is just too big a factor.
