Australia downed in exciting match vs Taiwan
(31966)

In a tough fought out game the Aussies have dropped their first game for the season, losing by 3 points to Taiwan. Both teams were hungry for the win to secure a first place finish in Pool A. Australia went in with less than ideal game shape, although some of the key players were in top form.

For Taiwan, "the french Mankini" was unstoppable, falling one assist shy of a national team triple double. Throwing out 9 dimes from the PF position was an outstanding show.

MVPS
3 votes- Maverick Parkes (19pts, 5 rebs, 4 assists).
2 votes- Cortez Ryan (17pts on 61%FG, 5 rebs, 3 ass, 3 stls)
1 vote- Kewell (15pts, 6 assists, 4 rebs)

Our next game is a big game against China, determining where each of the top teams will finish before the next round.

Game shape, game shape, game shape.

Tough loss. It looked like we were going to win it a few times there. Oh well

I feel that Kewell really should've gotten the three points over Zidane. He was the better player on both offence and defence.

Hamburger meanwhile should get minus one point for stupidly chucking up 10 threes when that's not his game.

Doesn't bode well to be blown-out despite getting a GDP call right, even if it was against China in a meaningless phase one group game...

Zidarevics 8 assists while putting up similar scoring output gave him the nod from me :)

But hey, its just an opinion to keep things fun.

whitewind is the coach and he took his time to make these so I and probably others appreciate the effort. thank you and not the best player win brownlow every year, system is rigged etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc :p

Thank you, as I said, just a bit of fun to involve the community. Everyone is certainly entitled to their own opinions (y)

I certainly dont dislike any players on the u21s, quite the opposite, i am probably too attached to them!

Australia downs Iran in a hard fought contest (32506)

The green and gold have taken victory in a closely fought battle with Iran at Shohoku Stadium. It was a close encounter with neither team able to pull away throughout the match. The shooting percentages were proof that the defense from both sides was outstanding, with the winning side going 35%, and 32% for the second place getters. The assist count possibly proved the difference, with Zidarevic, Kewell and Parkes combining for 17 of the teams 23 assists, holding the opposition to just 12. If there was a more important statistic to win, it was probably pts scored column, which the winning team managed to take 75-68.

MVPs
3 votes- Jikke Santegoeds (17pts, 11 boards, 2 assists, 1 stl, 15.0 rating)
2 votes- Maverick (9 boards, 5 assists, 5 pts, 2 stls, 1 blk)
1 vote- Cortez Ryan (15 boards, 12 pts, 2 assists)

Around the grounds we saw Hong Kong outscore Taiwan by 10 in the 4th to win by 9pts (32505), and we saw the Philippines miss a corner 3 for the match vs China. If one thing rings out here, its that there will be some close matches for this seasons World Cup qualification.

Next up is Hong Kong.
