Finally! 9th times the charm. Also, some of the players I lost went for 2X that price and most weren't as good. 🤷‍♂️

Quite the eventful night on Sat. I knew I was gonna lose with near certainty, given that I was away and intended to start a 19yo trainee, but I thought let's go ahead and guess what I think Kiwi will play. Getting the double guess right was small consolation anyway.

First run for E.B.W.'s shiny new roster against Prairie Dogs. This was a game between two really competitive teams that happened to be 0-2. Buoyed by Youngsheng's acquisition E.B.W. jumped out in front, but an untimely in-game injury to Dowell upset the balance of the game. The 'Wraps ended up winning it by a lone point on a Burrows J with 13 seconds to go. On the last possession, Prairie dogs' math-challenged coach called for a three down one point. It was an open look but the three was missed, and that was that.

In the other conference, BSL is also obviously better than their 0-3 record would suggest. But Southpaw army was on another level. They put up a 158 buzzer-manager rating in an imposing home victory. I believe this to be the highest overall rating on the young season. (Of course as enthusiasm increases and GS stabilizes in the 8-9 range we'll see higher ratings than this.)

My prediction of a flat Big 8 and a stretched Great 8 is shaping up to be right.

All right, I'm spacing out these recaps since this forum is on the quieter side. But let's take a look at what's happening at the end of the first third of the season.

Southpaw army started this forum with a declaration of intention: they want to be here exactly one season. And they are playing like it. Their 7-0 record, with everyone else having lost at least 2 games, is a loud statement.

My prediction that the Great 8 would be more lopsided than the Big 8 is coming out less strong that I'd imagined. Yes, there is a cluster at the top of the Big 8, and yes, only 2 games separate the top Big 8 teams and the 6th place. But Great 8 is looking compressed too below Southpaw.

I'm pretty happy to sit where I am after seven. My goal was to float and make money. A 5-2 record and a 163 Buzzer-manager rating in today's game says I'm floating. My arena even *just* passed 14k seats and the money is flowing so I can keep building this franchise

Sad to see EBW packing it in and accepting relegation. It's a good piece of strategy, given some terrible luck they'd had early on and difficulty scoring. But I was looking forward to battles with them for season to come.

Eclypze's Jaffa is the top scorer and unquestioned MVP of the first intraconference round. First in points, third in rebounds, over 500 FG%, and .687 3FG%.

Most of us are still in the cup but some tough games are coming.

Im quite pleased with the 1/3 of the season. I did draw away games vs the top 3 teams on the other side so that will be interesting to navigate as we go. Its been great seeing minimal injuries. Would be great for that to continue.

Im still sitting on a stack of cash and not thinking im done making moves for this season either.

Well played bit of game theory, with the mutually assured destruction threat

Brutal game day. I was hoping for blow out minutes asTrenton should never have tried but try they did, and the only thing that brought about was an injury to my best player — whom I had to fire . I was hoping to fire him at the ASG but it wasn’t meant to be

The players union will probably file a complaint with the league for firing an injured player 😬

I’m changing the name of SSK to Detroit Pistons 🤔

Haha I run this team like a ruthless capitalist, but it’s fitting for the social security kings to report me to the league ;)

(All kidding aside I think hiring and then firing old guys at will is an overpowered team design rule and it should probably be reined in — if not now at least when my team is a little older and on more solid financial footing ;) …)

Well you gave up 27 points (almost) unanswered ; they lost 28 games!!!
