That's just ludicrous wolph. I prefer basketball, therefore I prefer this game... but there are so many more variables in Hattrick that it's bloody difficult to list them all. There are more players too. This equates to far more divisions, and that means that you have to constantly hone your strategy and understanding of the game. You start in division five – which is about equivalent to Division II here. Even within division 5, some series are quite competitive. I would guess that more so than even II.1 here.
No one player series in division 5! And beyond division 4 (3, 2 & J. League), it's very difficult to stay up once you get up!

You can not like it – entirely your prerogative – but at least have legitimate reasons.

Only two types of people would think that a simpleton could play HT... Or would even try to categorize ANY game's membership in such a basic way.
1. A moron... or 2. Someone pushing their own peculiar agenda.
Gee. I wonder which.

"Veiled insults"? You mean... as opposed to you being flat insulting?
Seriously wolph: it's not simpler. You're the only one here who thinks that, and you don't even play.

One could assert the same for *many* online game simulations...

At least you put the "imo" there, and not trying to pass opinion off as fact.

Again Malice with the silver tongue.

I signed up 2 or 3 times for HT, every single time I just never signed in after first making the team. I think once i signed in like two or 3 times. I never watched a live game or even paid any attention to what league I was in. I never got as far as caring what my record was or scouting other teams in my league.

The whole appearance of the thing was a big turnoff for starters. Players have exactly how many skills? I think it was like 5 (feel free to remind me how awesome these skills are, and how difficult it is to figure out which one is the super skill) playmaking, shooting, keeping, passing and defence...or something like that. Again I can't remember. I just know it was few.

When I first signed up for BB, after Swoosh telling me for months in Yahoo I needed to sign up...I didn'T like BB either. The biggest thing at the start of BB for me was not having any connection or interest to my players or the league I was in...I was interested in the tactics, because I am interested in basketball. Also daytrading and training was fun, I enjoyed turning profits on trainees and player flips, although down the road I see that daytrading is not a good thing for the whole of BB. For the training system I think playing out of position is unrealistic and tedius...and I hate it, but the number of skills and how they interact, atleast as a core concept is just aobut right I think. What they need to fix is salary formula, but the skills and GE is really good for BB I think if they just tweak salary. HT Ge did not interest me...but I don't understand soccer like I do basketball.

FOr HT the formations were interesting, I think that was the thing that interested me the most about it. But alas I am not THAT interested in soccer.

Oh come on.
You state outright that you barely ever logged in after creation and that you don't understand enough about the tactics, yet you know enough about the game to condemn it outright?

Wolph, it's fine to say "it just didn't gel with me", and "I simply don't like soccer". What I - and others in the past - have found to be an "interesting stance" is to say the game's categorically crap. Very obviously, it's not.

But exploring the comparisons... at the risk of being summarily dismissed.
Hattrick does only have 7 skills. But beyond that, there's stamina/form/leadership/loyalty/experience - where BB has exp/GS.
Hattrick has specialties for players.
Hattrick has a system of Team Spirit and Confidence - both of which impact play (and are BLOODY difficult to manage!).
Both have a DMI measure of sorts.
In BB, you have 10 offensive tactics, 1 of which works (by popular declaration - something you've said yourself).
HT has 7 play choices, all of which work.
Both have pretty much the same effort scale.
Defensively, BB has 7 options. At first glance, HT has ... zero... BUT you can choose the play positions (formation) - of which there are 10, and a multitude of options as to where your player plays within that formation. And the substitution system is quite complex/inventive. As is the ability to change the way a player plays at different points in the game.
The ability to manage a game in HT is more involved than in BB.
I agree with you about the *look* of the players.
You hate the concept of "playing out of position for training in HT"... yet we do it all the time in BB too. I need passing on K-Mat. Is it really realistic for him to play at PG?
The Youth Academy's in HT are fun, and an excellent way of attaining players. I prefer this to the draft.
I like being able to design my uniforms too.
The arena system in HT is excellent, with the ability to demolish as well as build. Fan and sponsor system is good as well.

BB's game viewer is vastly superior.
And at the end of the day, that's probably why I like BB more. The game play. Oh... and the fact that it's basketball.
If I could, I'd
