My hat is off to Eugene. He kicked ass, out of the gate, in Season 27 & has been a beast ever since.

thanks for the kind words, but permit me to point out you have been in the playoffs every season but one since you have been in the NBBA, and during that one "off" season you won the Cup. that is a pretty impressive run. however, ominously, notice that Tucumcari and High Point have more or less followed the same path -- start off well, and get better.

i don't know much about the history of the NBBA before my time, but i do see a trend -- and if that is the case, then we can look forward to at least one scary team next season joining us (the team that kicked me out of the Cup, the Golden Horde, is my nomination).

btw, i looked at your tactical choices in your finals game against the Whalers and thought your coaching staff had consumed too much medical cannabis. but then i faced the reality of playing Ozone's squad and understood that if i play his squad on a level battlefield with standard tactics, the results would be an Omdurman. i really think only Father Time can defeat the Whalers.

Thx for the kind words - right back at you.

Offensively, it was either R&G or LI, as I had to play up tempo & hope for foul outs &/or injuries (plus, I was almost certainly going to be playing from behind). Defensively, I'm searching for something that might be effective vs. Tucumcari: earlier in the season, I tried a 3-2 & that didn't work very well. Obviously, M2M was a good alternative, but I thought Inside Box & 1 just might work (I have no faith in the 2-3). I don't know what you mean by "standard tactics" - balanced offense? That would certainly be a disaster ...

I don't know if Father Time will do the trick. Tucumcari is just a really, really good manager. His team looks weird - nothing but PFs & PGs, but he makes it work. He's got a secret - or perhaps its the fact that his team salary is so high ...

To me, Tucumcari's success is reminiscent of Bullish Mentality & Arizona Desert Storm ... and they only got worse on purpose ...

Uh oh. The old "wait for the backups to come in for the 4th quarter and mount a furious comeback" strategy I guess. Well played. *-:)

Haha, yeah, the 4th quarter was a little stressful for me. I guess I shouldn't have even dressed some of my lesser players, but I couldn't escape the idea that there would be an injury or a foul out or something and I'd rather have them in than lucky fans. It would be nice to have a setting where you can control what your coach does in garbage time, so you can dress scrubs just in case they're needed, but still leave the starters in during garbage time.

This makes us 1-1 in NBBA finals series ... here's hoping we play at least one more to break the tie! (party)

So just to point out how much depth the Big 8 had this season:

-The team with the unanimous league MVP didn't make it out of the first round of the playoffs.
-The #5 seed had a 900k payroll as of the last update on buzzermanager (I'm ignoring his recent sales because my point works better this way!)
-The #7 seed was +173 in PD.
... and Tucumcari breezed through anyway, only losing a couple games towards the end because he either had to punt in order to win the other USA trophy or just wanted to give the illusion of being mortal...

May God have mercy on the soul of whoever takes Anchorage's spot over there in S31.
