I have come to learn that the only way I can compete is load up with cheap 35yo+ players
This bidding / free agent system is inherently flawed and is really starting to show up now with less and less active players

I think at some point, like others have said, training will need to be changed or sped up, OR the whole player system needs to be changed to a contract type system (like some other sport sims and real sports)

but mainly to your point, load up on old players, seriously, no other way

Thanks for the replies.

I definitely agree that training is the way to go, however it is a slow process. My current state is stuck in Div III - where there appear to be two particular owners with huge stadiums and loads of cash. This likely means I will be "stuck" here for at least two seasons.

Thankfully I enjoy the training component of the game, however I need to try and find a trainee that I really can tie myself too. Currently I have one quality guy and two guys that are only mediocre. I have been actively looking for a trainee but they are either way over priced, have horrible starting skills or from countries I dont want to train for :)

That is the best place to train, and if you want to generate money, just sell one of your trainees and put in a new one.

What kind of trainee you are searching for. For me there is no "horrible starting skills": As you have time, you can buy really cheap and train them properly.

I got a decent trainee if you are interested. My draftee, he receives JS and 1 on 1 training so far but soon I will stop training him. 52 TSP, 7 potential, 19yo, both defenses at 8

Promote or not promote?

I am just getting back into the game and have a chance to promote from division III. Would you recommend I go all out for promotion or that I focus on training, save cash, expand arena etc and likely stay in div III for one more season?

I am always proponent of promoting. Worst case scenario you get a good draft pick, and still consistently higher income. Plus if you decide to stay you can get old players and stay in the league while staying barely over salary floor since you know how enthusiasm, tactics, and GS work

I agree with damian13ster. Promote, when you have the chance. You never know, if there is again an"easy chance" like this season.

promote, and stick around in DivII to save up/expand arena/train. There's a lot more money to be made there.

Thanks all.

I have put most of my money into arena expansion with a few minor transfers.

Promoting is not a sure thing but pushing to see if I can does make sense.

i think div3 is a better place to stockpile money and take your time developping trainees especially off-position

however, as long as you dont overspend to stay relatively competitive in div2, i dont see why not to promoting
its more fun in div2, more thinking in planning and strategizing... like the old times

The training in div III may be easier but it is boring as heck. Only 4 active players and I use active loosely...
