Personally I am not a fan of this at all. And before everyone yells and screams, please let it be known that I do like options. In fact in most cases more options are clearly better. In this particular case I feel that the options cloud the actual game.

Being an effective manager in BB is very complex and 'leveling' the playing field by taking enthusiasm and game shape out of the equation would create a false sense. The very best teams are teams that learn to effectively manage enthusiasm, game shape, home court etc. So to remove any of those items from games results is effectively removing a critical part of the game. New and old players alike should always be striving to get better, and in BB that involves enthusiasm and game shape management. It is not an arcade game, it is a management simulator. Hence people should manage there teams accordingly.

You may as well line the rosters up head to head and total skill points and salary. The team with the higher points and salary could be awarded the 'W' with out even playing the game, heck it would save the server some work load.

FTW there is a post above this that suggests unlimited games. If that was the case maybe, and I mean maybe games could be simed in an 'arcade mode'.

Cheers

PL-s do not need entu. It's the best place to test.

Test what?? Poor management of gameshape??

Well I would love to test a quadruple sensational SG, can I get one for my PL games...

As I said the game is about managing a team, which includes various tasks. If we are going to start to limit some of the management task, whats the point of the game. The best players would and should win ever time.

Arcade mode should be arcade mode. No Enthusiasm. Period. Every team should be set at 5 for every game. Pure team vs. team. That's what I think.

Don't ask what sort of Chunks they are, you probably don't want to know. Blowing Chunks since Season 4!

And you want to see easy league TIE team run over competitive league teams? So if you want to know which is the best team with GS and entu equal, there is no better place than PL. This is how it should stay.

Actually, I do think GS should all be set to the same level across the board. Maybe it shouldn’t be respectable, but something closer to what starters typically are during the course of the season, probably set them all to strong. I mean, don’t you think it’s odd in a PL that when the league schedule coincides with the end of a regular that players have solid GS, but then when the season resets suddenly the PL games have everyone at respectable? There should be no connection between the league/cup games and a PL. Why should a team that has the ability to TIE most games in an overmatched league in its own country get an enthusiasm boost advantage against a team that is in a very competitive country league where it’s hard to keep a high enthusiasm? I think of “arcade style” as one that sets all variables outside of the base skills of the players equal. It should be about which team is better, who can put out the best lineup with the players on their roster, who can pick the best offensive and defensive strategy, etc. This is why I really support the original suggestion.

The Private League is "arcade mode". From the description of Supporter Features:

Would you like to play in a second league comprised of only your friends? Our Private League system lets you set up your own, customizable league, one game per week, where you can play against other Supporters from around the world, down the block, or anyplace else you can find opponents. Private League games will take place in "arcade mode," meaning that these games will use your existing team but games played will not count towards player statistics, training, injuries, practice, or anything else. You can use your best players and do everything possible to beat your friends, and not worry about whether it will affect your upcoming playoff game.

It sounds like including an option to set enthusiasm is perfectly inline with BB's vision for what Private Leagues should be. I'm not sure what you think this would take away from the experience of managing in BB. No one manages game shape and enthusiasm for PLs. It's something that's done for fun to test your best lineups against other team's best lineups. Being able to set enthusiasm helps make that possible. You make it sound like I'm asking for enthusiasm to be taken out altogether, and that isn't the case.

Yes, well said. The only thing anyone's looking to do is iron out league and scheduling inequities.

Arcade mode = PLs are independent of normal leagues. If an IV team beats an III team in the PL, it should happen because the IV team played better and out-strategized the III team - not because of a large difference in enthusiasm.

All that is really being asked for here is the OPTION to normalize enthusiasm. Game shape does not need to be part of this discussion, IMO.

True. Enthusiasm is all that's affected by league strength. Game shape can be controlled regardless of league strength.
