He went much more in-depth in the fed, and had a few other posts elsewhere that for the life of me I can't seem to locate right now.

All this isn't to say I don't believe in SB, as most of my bigs have at least 8 SB, I just don't think it's worth the expense or time trained. There are plenty of other skills that can be added to bigs that will give them a definite in-game advantage over their opponents, and those skills are either cheaper then SB, or they're free.

Just because nobody trains DR on their bigs doesn't make it a useless skill. And, yes JS is absolutely a big man skill (but it isn't free like DR is).

For centers it actually is free. It only increases the PF salary so up to a certain level JS is free for Centers.

That depends on how high you train it. Everything else equal, a Center will become a PF eventually when his JS reaches a certain level.

For instance, a 3x tremendous is still a C with proficient JS, but becomes a PF at prominent.

That's just what I said. As long as the player's a Center, it's free.

It's not quite as cut-and-dried as that, because once the player crosses the threshold of JS that makes him switch from C to PF, it requires quite a lot of training to get him to become a C again.

If we take the hypothetical 3x tremendous player from above, and suggest his skills look something like this:

9/4/4/4/4/4/13/13/13/8 (JS/JR/OD/HN/DR/PS/IS/ID/RB/SB)

He's a C, but at 10 JS he becomes a PF. In order to make him a C again (and get his JS skill for nothing), we have to train him until he looks like this:

10/4/4/4/4/4/14/14/15/8 (note that he also becomes a C again with 15 ID rather than 15 RB, but the RB is cheaper)

Whereas we could hypothetically train the same player to 20 in OD, PS, DR or HN without it ever costing a dime or changing his BP.

edit: typo

I don't think DR is considered one of the 4 big man skills. DR is a secondary skill for all players I believe. This is not saying that DR is unimportant, although playing with your back to the basket makes DR less important in my eyes.
I believe that the generally accepted 4 skills for big men are IS, ID, RB, and SB.

As far as shot-blocking goes, I believe in its value as much as I believe in the value of any skill. I don't think the game engine is set up to have 12 skills but only 11 of them of value. Is it cost-effective? That's a function of your team and the tactics you play.

Once I scored a basket that still makes me laugh.

Well said, + 1 ball for you.

Every skill is important. But somehow OD is the most important skill...

I think the 5 salaries will be calculated and the highest one is taken for him?

When a Center have the salary X, the JS training raises the PF salary closer to the C salary. After the break even point there should be a salary that is only some bucks bigger than the C salary, right?

I mean: why do you have to train him C again to get the skills for free? you reached a C-PF-balance and they are nearly free (I don't believe that the PF-salary after the break even point would be higher than 2% over the C-salary)
