This is untrue. A site this size should be doing their own negotiating for web advertising. Using something akin to adsense is unprofitable, and non-negotiable.

It seems to be the case here. I think you may overestimate the resources that BB has for dealing with the ad companies, or non-ad companies willing to advertise on BB. It can be argued that they should do more or better, but I tend to believe they are doing what they can with current resources. I think they will also welcome all help if there is a user who is willing and able to improve things (with hands-on work).

I don't think I do overestimate the resources.
BB had a chance to be a part of a network who would do a lot of the resourcing for them, but they failed to capitalise on it (the blog).
I have - over the years - done a lot of the advertising on my site (I have a basketball blog - which has gathered a bit of dust recently. Time's a factor!), and it's not *that* difficult. And the traffic I see is far, far smaller than here.

I think they will also welcome all help if there is a user who is willing and able to improve things (with hands-on work).

What... volunteer to make them money?
They've had opportunities, but allowed them to go begging.

So, they failed in that for some other reason than resources? I don't know much about the BB blog actions, I just translated what needed translating.

I think they will also welcome all help if there is a user who is willing and able to improve things (with hands-on work).

Volunteer -- or propose a deal. You do realize there is a bunch of people doing various things on this site basically for free (free Supporter or nothing), right? And I'm not exactly saying anyone should take a full-time job for nothing. If doing things better is not difficult and does not take much resources (basically I am reading you that it takes just a little bit of time and perhaps some experience), then some help should be enough to get the improvements started.

The advertising does not concern me. Not an iota. I pay my supporter.
I enjoy the game - quite a bit - but the status quo here is that there are a helluva lot of people doing work here - for free. And basically making money for those that do see the cash. I am not interested. But I do know that using adsense - or something like that - is largely an ineffective way to monetize.

Well, that´s all what "google" and facebook are about: personalized commercials and advertising. They try to give you those kind of "temptations" that you most likely will "bite" on. Maybe cleaning your cookies and going to a bunch of car sites (Audi, BMW, Toyota, GM) will solve the problem and you´ll get mostly car advertisements afterwards.

I actually think that the thing about what sites you visited may be true. I ones looked for a hotel in a town where a friend of mine lives. Some weeks after that i had an add about hotel offers in that town. And since i pretty got my first child we look at a lot of baby sites. And it just so happen that i see baby stuff on those adds now and then.

Thats not MAY be true. Its a fact. There r mucho mucho money in there. The magic word for that is retargeting!!
But thats only a side note. The funny thing is that Wolph shows us that he gets on fire than small asians going dirty!!Maybe a note his wife is interesting about!! ;-)

:-DD
