Yeah the 1-3-1 is designed to create traps. The bottom guy plays the ball when it goes into the corners. The ball isnt supposed to get to the post, but when it does the C is there to stop it.

I'm myself a player at a pretty decent level and usually:

1 is pg

2 + 4, wingmen are the forwards

3, center in the middle (stays in the paint)

5, sg at the bottom (has to run a lot)

of course this can change. it's all about wether you want to trap, play passively or ...

It depends on the charasteristics of your players, but the standard 1-3-1 is with the PF in the middle.

i sw different variant of it, not from many teams but with different characterics. Playing an guard below the basket have advanatages in the corner defence, while is weaken rebounding a lot. Some play with a bigger guy in the front to disrupt the passes with the long frame, but this works not with every big dude.

Normally i saw it with undersized teams(PF at C), but believe a 2.20 C would be hidden in the Middle.

It doesn' really matter how it is in real life. We want to know how it's done in his game.

It sounds reasonable. Anyway, CrazyEye just posted a question about it in the Ask the BB's forum hehe...
