But, it wasn't enough to dismantle Pilipinas U21 as the Singaporeans bows out of the tournament with a 106-95 loss.
Luis Pacifico Castromayor powers the Philippine-based team with 23 points and 9 rebounds, on 11 of 20 shooting clip.
Xavier Lena added 19 points and 20 rebounds (9 offensive), while
Juvenal Delvir pulled down 13 rebounds and scored 13 points.
David Castaños notched his first double-double of the tournament with 11 points and 12 assists.
Yeo Jian Jin and
Gandhapalin Krishnan led the Singapore charge with 23 and 18 points, respectively. Singapore U21 ends their campaign with a 2-4 record, while Pilipinas U21 record remains unblemished at 6-0.
Next week, May 6, will be the start of the second round of the U21 Asian tournament. The groupings and schedule will be revealed in a day or two.
Asked about the team's chances in the second round, Coach Leo replied, "We'll be in a group with very strong contenders, possibly with Hong Kong, I heard Australia lost the game vs China earlier, so the Aussies joins us here, and I think Malaysia will be in our group as well. Anybody's ball game at this point, but we're more than ready."
