How about giving new users a free month of supporter. And have all new users be put into a random(Region would be cool) 4 team PL with other new users who have signed up during that week. It would be 3 games and a final.
Reason:
1st. Gives new users a taste of the supporter feature
2nd. an extra game for the first 4 weeks after signing up to get extra practice setting up game tactics.

Another good idea....
When I started, the whole staff thing was strange. the bidding and finding the right level staff for a good price. I think new users should start out with level 3 staff. That would help them focus more on reading the game manual and getting used to the site as a whole.

I like the idea of an automatic PL league for new users. Nice one!

I've been around a while so I'm going to throw in my two cents:

The cup draw needs to be reworked. We have team rankings. The cup should be seeded according to ranking. Its very frustrating to see a weaker team with an easier cup match up when it has an effect on your fan support. The higher seeded team should be the home team in each game.

Sorry do not like his idea. It's part of the fun of the cup in that lower teams with a bit of luck in the draw and go deep into the cup. If it seeded we might as well just make it Div I sides and leave the rest out.

Agreed, a bit of a luck factor is cool. It can go both ways, but it is more exciting.

I'd also hate to see a seeded cup. If it was seeded the better team would have to be at home, or there's no point in having seedings, and its already hard enough for a lower division team to progress against a higher league team.

That's why we've spent all these seasons building teams. It's like using a handicap in bowling. Why do lower division teams get a break?

Also I hate watching games where I pick the right offensive match up only for the other team to "magically" adjust at half time. If there is no extra adjustment for the offense then the defense shouldn't be able to adjust.

This is a bit like real life, and a bit simulation. However, if the defense adjusts at halftime, I would like to see the offense given the chance to adjust to counter the defense.

I have been following this post for a while and would like to add a little bit. This game needs a better start up message and tutorial or something to help people get started. If I did not spend a long time going through the guide on the forum I would of quit quickly. Two things kept me in the game. The first was Beanerz who sent me a welcome and mentored me early on. The second was an 18 year old MVP that I was given to start. Training him into an ok player and learning as I went was what made this game fun for me. If I had gotten all scrubs I may not have been as interested. Simply put I think a mentoring system or improved tutorial to start; plus a decent potential player would help a bit with user retention.

I agree. This game, while outstanding, definitely isn't good with new users. When I started, I didn't get mentored and didn't have anyone remotely worth keeping. The reason why I stayed, was that I had a good run in the cup and upset a few higher ranked teams in my first season. This game could use a better tutorial that explains how you know whether a player is good or not, and which ones are trainable etc., and teams should start in the lowest division so they don't get blown out every game and lose interest.
