There's a new kid on the block! ;-)

any good?
;P

9/11/2011 - Vios Violationers has just acquired Ferdynand Rembecki for $ 1 820 800.

You would expect so! He is just 22 and looks like a stud. I think he will be a new force in the league.

Well can't see him taking Bozos starting spot at PF. Fangs starting C spot is the most likely to go unless its the beginning of a 3 pronged big man attack.

My new PG is finally injury free. Will be giving him 48 minutes in the scrimmage to try and get that GS up.

So he will be finally ready to play just in time for our game. Lucky me. Which would I prefer with or without the player that was so good you were willing to wait weeks for him?

I'll give it to you honestly, this season he won't be taking Bozo's spot. I'll be moving him around in different spots to tidy up a stat or two. I owe it to Bozo to allow him the chance at a 3rd Div II MVP, so he'll get everthing he needs.

This move was not made to bolster me for this season specifically, it's something I've had my eye on to prepare for next season. You better believe he's ready to take Bozo's spot right now though, as mentioned already, not this season. ;-)

Kinda surprised by this buy - looking at his salary, is he not already capped? He must be amazing, I'm surprised you are taking on that salary when you didn't need to until next season or whenever you make your push. Significant amount of money you're losing out on each week.

Not sure if he's capped but I'll see if I can get a couple of minor secondary pops in these final weeks of this season. The stats were near on perfect for what I wanted at the spot, especially considering I have bozo to use as a guide. There's no capping on Stamina and Free Throws so I'll slip in some of that here and there.

I'm still making a $100k clear a week and if I do end up selling Bozo next season, along with my SF, that will leave me plenty to fill the SF role. Not much else needed other than boosting the players I have next season.

It's also changed my plan for my young trainee (Ostolaza) who was being trained for a PF spot. He's now going to get SF training which is probably more ideal than PF anyway.

Also i'm not sure where you heard a Perennial Allstar caps after $60k but I found a discussion on it in the "Help" forum. One of our very own (Yoda) features quite strongly in that discussion with some big statements.

"and finally at the other end I have read that perennial allstars cant go above $100,000 salary, this guy smashes that by $50,000.

Hard cap based directly on salary? I think not!"

Well the capping forumla is now quite well understood. It is complex but is based on total skills with a MUCH higher weighting for certain skills, but none are "free" (except for free throws and stamina) as a lot are for salary. As a concrete example my trainee Mu who is an allstar is close to capping. I could get him two more OD pops or eight passing pops and an OD pop. If he was a PG each passing pop would be weighted more heavily than an OD pop. So I have been training the passing as I figure it will make him both a better, and a cheaper player in the long run.

However the "hard cap" is no where as hard as it was once thought to be. Also training older players isn't as bad as it was thought to be. So many managers (not me) continue to train their favourite players once they are capped. I am informed that training after capping is at about 1/3 of the normal speed and managers that I know have been doing it report that they are typicially getting about two pops a season.

Now obviously that is a terrible rate compared to 12 a season for an eager 18 year old. However think about what it can do for your team. Training a young guy (or in my case three young guys which has been killing me the last two seasons) has serious issues for your team's chances in games. Instead training your best player is really good for your team. Then when the 18 year old has got his 10 pops how useful is he in the playoffs? Still a liability. When your best player has gotten two more pops how useful is he in the playoffs? Brilliant!

If you want the exact details of the formula here they are:
