Continued from previous post
Tic Tacs chances for a recall to the team weren’t helped by him being spotted at a bar within the stadium, with drink in hand, trying to chat up a couple of the cheer girls.
Back on the bench and Tic Tac had a wry smile to himself knowing that any further disciplinary action was unlikely given that Sacks and Birss had gone 0 from 9 in the SF position at that stage and it wasn’t until the 8th minute of the 2nd quarter that Australia managed to get any points from the SF position, this time through a 3 from Birss.
Half time crawled around with Australia holding a 53 to 17 point lead, with Barth (Bath Water) almost single handedly matching the Saudi Arabians score with 15 points of his own.
3rd quarter started with Ameen getting a great pass off to Rahmen Nasser who dunked, 21 seconds in. Nasser had been solid and his 7 rebounds at that stage of the game, whilst short of Teds and The Dukes efforts of 11 rebounds each, was still helping to keep the game from blowing out.
5 minutes into the quarter and Saudi Arabia had outscored Australia 7 points to 4 for that stanza, until the Bath Water drained a 3.
Saudi Arabias undermanned team, perhaps through their edge in experience or maybe as a result of Tic Tac being a distractive pest on the Australian bench, were fighting hard and keeping pace with Australias scoring for the quarter and only through a couple of late points to the Aussies did they manage to sneak a 23 to 17 point ascendancy for the quarter.
Whiskers flaring, the Wombat King certainly gave the Aussies a dressing down during the 3 quarter time break with the Chicko Roll coping the biggest serve for giggling during the rant, with the Wombat King being unaware that poor Chicko was not laughing at him but instead Tic Tac, who was putting the rabbits ears up behind him.
So mad was the Wombat King that he sat the starters down and sent out the back ups
Poor Chicko still steaming from the cooking he received from the Wombat King, went out on court with just a tad too much aggression in the 4th and quickly compiled 4 fouls in the first 6 minutes of the quarter
The Truth relishing the SG position was seen in the 4th quarter hitting a 3 and also getting off a beautiful assist, but overall the game was still ugly.
The overseas based Bald guy, was pulling down boards from every where but Australias poor shooting which was evident to all was only “worsened” by the shooting of the Saudi Arabians who finished with 17 from 84
With 2 minutes to go Goodsy become the 11th Aussie to go oncourt, but poor Wang missed out on a run.
Bath Water and The Duke were again Australias best players, with Sercombe, Ted and the Bald guy all performing and ranking well.
Overall it would be fair to say that given the Aussie ascendancy in game shape and players salaries, the final margin of just 51 points was slightly disappointing.
Final score Australia 100 to Saudi Arabias 49 with the win putting Australia on top of the pool ladder by a points difference margin of 1 from the Indonesians who look likely to be Australias toughest opponent in this pool
