That's why we've spent all these seasons building teams. It's like using a handicap in bowling. Why do lower division teams get a break?

Also I hate watching games where I pick the right offensive match up only for the other team to "magically" adjust at half time. If there is no extra adjustment for the offense then the defense shouldn't be able to adjust.

This is a bit like real life, and a bit simulation. However, if the defense adjusts at halftime, I would like to see the offense given the chance to adjust to counter the defense.

I have been following this post for a while and would like to add a little bit. This game needs a better start up message and tutorial or something to help people get started. If I did not spend a long time going through the guide on the forum I would of quit quickly. Two things kept me in the game. The first was Beanerz who sent me a welcome and mentored me early on. The second was an 18 year old MVP that I was given to start. Training him into an ok player and learning as I went was what made this game fun for me. If I had gotten all scrubs I may not have been as interested. Simply put I think a mentoring system or improved tutorial to start; plus a decent potential player would help a bit with user retention.

I agree. This game, while outstanding, definitely isn't good with new users. When I started, I didn't get mentored and didn't have anyone remotely worth keeping. The reason why I stayed, was that I had a good run in the cup and upset a few higher ranked teams in my first season. This game could use a better tutorial that explains how you know whether a player is good or not, and which ones are trainable etc., and teams should start in the lowest division so they don't get blown out every game and lose interest.

With no GM in Canada, is a GM elsewhere getting welcome messages out to newly created teams in Canada?

If you remember me, then I don't care if everyone else forgets.

Some people have suggested in the past that the Cup stay random until the Final 16. So I'll add to that.
I think it should be seeded after you get to the Final 16. I also think when you get to the 16, it should be played at a neutral arena. Now I think that would be cool because by the time you get to the 16, there are no lucky teams left.

It is Neutral for final 4 or 8 anyway. Nah keep it random. When I was in Div III I was one of 3 teams that made the final 16. The other 2 played each other. If there is to be any changes to the Cup all I would like is maybe make it a cup for each division level.

Div I could play vs 3 other nations Div Is and move up through regions.
Div II in their own cup and then taking on winners of other nations div II.
and so on. The lower division the smaller the region would be.

But I'm fine with the current set up.

Glad to know I was of some help :)

I think your idea is a very good one. I cannot tell you how many times I have sent out the link for both the game manual and the information post in the Help forms put together by RiP. These things should be essential reading and answer a ton of the initial questions.

The only issue is reading thru the numerous pages is also very intimidating and the reason behind many uses leaving. Somehow there needs to be a tutorial that is not so complex and grabs users interests to help them stick around.

Another idea that I have is that people could be automatically assigned a mentor. Mentor would volunteer by clicking a button similar to the election and then new users would automatically be assigned one. Having a good mentor is the only reason I stuck around as both RIP and The Mogul offered to help me out.
