I think aswell that the difference between these levels could be smaller. The point of the staff management we have currently is mainly to suck the money from teams with higher expectations. This currently doesnt work, because it seems that is still financially more efficient to have lvl4 trainer no matter how high league you play, because the money you safe could be bigger than the real effect of such a staff. (especially if you are not training monsters and have to fight with the height of the player)

But I dont think that such a linear solution would be interresting, it would make things pretty boring if you compare that to a current system. Now on you have to decide if you will pay more for cheaper salary or the opposite. There are some special skills which staff have and depend pretty much on the will of the customers how much will you pay.

So I think that instead of having these payments solid and hold on to any formula, would be simply enough if there would be more of 7, 6, 5 lvl staff available for us. So they would be cheaper to get, however still would have higher salary than these by lvl below.

I don't think this is necessarily true for all styles of training - just true with the style most commonly used. There is a genuine opportunity cost to opting for a level 4 over level 5 if you look at training weeks needing to yield a certain value per player trained per week, rather than evaluating per player per season, which a lot of managers seem to do.

What are you basing your numbers on? If you change trainer with 35,5k salary for 18k salary trainer, it would take 16 weeks to pay off.

Are you completely sure? My graphs show that it takes 27-28 weeks for 18k salary lvl5 trainer to reach 31k salary. That's way more than one season.

I love US dates. That date to me is 7. sept. 2010. But you prolly mean 9. july 2010. If your trainer has 31k salary now, you bought him between 23-24k salary. If he is lvl5.

I did a little math and created an excel app. There are a few assumptions thrown in with some algebra that I did. If you have a better method, I would be interested. If I remember correctly, some of my assumptions were:

-you are replacing the trainer with the same level and same specialist.
-you keep the trainer until his salary is equal to the guy you are replacing

(so if you want to keep him for a shorter or longer period, this method does not work)

This was the key element I was looking in your calculation. My own calculation is based on paying off in 7 weeks (half a season) after the purchase. So switching to 20k salary trainer from 35,5k should not cost over 84300, 30k trainers signing bonus should be 9957 etc.
For example I changed my 53455 salary trainer for 37649 salary trainer and payed a small 23k signing bonus. That happened 7 weeks ago. I am making profit after 5 weeks, keeping the new trainer for a season profits me $192038 compared to my last trainer. I usually look for a new trainer after that time (he has reached 48703 salary by that time). Is it smart to try to get 18k salary trainer for 500k+, or 25k salary trainer for 350k+. My research shows it's not, but I'm always trying to keep an eye out for cheaper staff. Switches are easy with the doctors and pr-guys.
Ofcourse we are talking about speciality staff here.
