Another U21 callup was made this week, with 20 year old Timothy Austin joining the action. He played backup PG for us this week against Argentina.

Timothy Austin (13232449)

MuffinTops had a great draft in season 11, taking Austin with the 11th overall pick, and Govardhan Mohan at the 47th spot. Both players have developed into great point guards, and have emerged as solid U21 prospects. For several seasons, Austin and Mohan have been trash talking each other about making U21, and Austin finally earned bragging rights by being called up first. While neither player is guaranteed to play for Canada in season 15, they both have an excellent chance to do so, if they continue to work hard and develop their skills (and refrain from injuring each other too badly during practice). For now, Austin will be wearing his U21 uniform proudly, as he will try to make an impact on the global stage.

The last season 14 roster spot for the U21 was used this week, with Conor MacSymon joining the action. At 21 years of age, MacSymon is in for a very brief U21 career, but he should help us out a little bit here at the end of the season.

Conor MacSymon (11817284)

As a manager, coach coach has been an active prospect hunter in recent seasons. With this in mind, it is perhaps a bit surprising that one of his own draft picks became his first player on the Canadian U21 team. Conor MacSymon was drafted 16th overall as an 18 year old, and has been steadily trained ever since. While coach coach himself was skeptical that MacSymon would ever play for Canada, Conor never stopped believing in his abilities, and was very excited to finally get the call. While he won't be on the U21 for long, he is determined to make the most of the opportunity, and proudly represent Team Canada.
