Sure, but there is plenty of time to buy a player. Wait till closer to the playoff, save money and buy then, if necessary.

It's probably good advice if it works. If it doesn't, it's the worst advice ever.

If you are sure you will win the league with your current roster, it would be a waste of money to buy two big men.

I don't think I have to add anything else than this.

And as he waits, he gives the other teams in his league hope, that with just a little investment, they can overtake him, and by the time he does invest in a new player, there are two or three other competitive teams. Or he could buy a player now, and crush that hope before it grows.

It's like telling someone never to buy an umbrella, because it's not raining NOW.

Or he lulls them into a false sense of security and he can crush them with one or two expensive picks who will serve him into the next league rather than frittering away his money on players who will only contribute in this league.

If you live in the desert, you never have to buy an umbrella.

No, I believe what you're asking him to do is to keep his umbrella opened and atop his head on a cloudless day on the miniscule chance that it rains.

Jason should be celebrating the fact that he only has 48K in total team salary and is thus able to pull 50k+ profits each week in D.5, all while having the biggest PD in his league. That's pretty impressive. Making that much money a week will allow him to seriously upgrade his team when he promotes. Instead, he has people suggesting he buy better players on the off chance that one of his opponents might go out and do the same. Seriously flawed advice.

My advice is based on his ability to predict whether he will promote or not. Of course you can never be 100% sure because of other team's purchases, injuries etc. But from what he wrote I got a feeling he feels pretty confident to promote this season. I mean, he's already looking at next season's relegation.
