Kinda surprised by this buy - looking at his salary, is he not already capped? He must be amazing, I'm surprised you are taking on that salary when you didn't need to until next season or whenever you make your push. Significant amount of money you're losing out on each week.

Not sure if he's capped but I'll see if I can get a couple of minor secondary pops in these final weeks of this season. The stats were near on perfect for what I wanted at the spot, especially considering I have bozo to use as a guide. There's no capping on Stamina and Free Throws so I'll slip in some of that here and there.
I'm still making a $100k clear a week and if I do end up selling Bozo next season, along with my SF, that will leave me plenty to fill the SF role. Not much else needed other than boosting the players I have next season.
It's also changed my plan for my young trainee (Ostolaza) who was being trained for a PF spot. He's now going to get SF training which is probably more ideal than PF anyway.

Also i'm not sure where you heard a Perennial Allstar caps after $60k but I found a discussion on it in the "Help" forum. One of our very own (Yoda) features quite strongly in that discussion with some big statements.
"and finally at the other end I have read that perennial allstars cant go above $100,000 salary, this guy smashes that by $50,000.
Jorge Contreras (4900841) Center

Weekly salary: $ 150 003
Role: regular starter

DMI: 1510400

Height: 7'1" / 216 cm
Potential: perennial allstar
Game Shape: proficient
Hard cap based directly on salary? I think not!"

Well the capping forumla is now quite well understood. It is complex but is based on total skills with a MUCH higher weighting for certain skills, but none are "free" (except for free throws and stamina) as a lot are for salary. As a concrete example my trainee Mu who is an allstar is close to capping. I could get him two more OD pops or eight passing pops and an OD pop. If he was a PG each passing pop would be weighted more heavily than an OD pop. So I have been training the passing as I figure it will make him both a better, and a cheaper player in the long run.
However the "hard cap" is no where as hard as it was once thought to be. Also training older players isn't as bad as it was thought to be. So many managers (not me) continue to train their favourite players once they are capped. I am informed that training after capping is at about 1/3 of the normal speed and managers that I know have been doing it report that they are typicially getting about two pops a season.
Now obviously that is a terrible rate compared to 12 a season for an eager 18 year old. However think about what it can do for your team. Training a young guy (or in my case three young guys which has been killing me the last two seasons) has serious issues for your team's chances in games. Instead training your best player is really good for your team. Then when the 18 year old has got his 10 pops how useful is he in the playoffs? Still a liability. When your best player has gotten two more pops how useful is he in the playoffs? Brilliant!
If you want the exact details of the formula here they are:

Yeah I think it's pretty good timing really. The money isn't a huge issue to me as I mentioned, I have players to sell and i'm still making a profit. I'll be looking to boost my guns as much as possible next season with the hope of an ABBL income the season after. It's just a plan, following through and being successful is where it gets tricky. We all have to have a plan though.

4 players in the all star game... can't complain with that.. Really surprised de Wild made it though given he isn't even getting half a game these days.. must be reputation alone..

nice work Haggard, I remember him torching me many moons ago.
Had 3 players myself, with the two SGs who somehow both making it. They only really play half a game each, so probably have inflated ratings each match!
Any notable omissions?

Yeah but show me a reasonably priced SF with similar skills... I figure it's worth leaving him there for the remainder of the season. Some championship hopeful team may be in need of a SF with his skill set and may be willing to pay the price. He's not currently priced above his trade value, just sitting on the maximum. :-D

yeah guess they dont exist but i reckon @ this price point, tis better to go for either an "inside" based or "outside" based type SF and not settle for a middle of the range jack of all trades, 2mill will get you a very decent outside SF with enough ID to not be a liability esp when you have a couple dominate bigs! but yeahyou'll be laughing if he sells @ 2mill ! hahah
