I wish I had Hightower, but Satchwell ain't too bad either, and don't worry about who I'm cheering for in the USAvCanada matchup. It's Canada all the way this season.:)

I have to say I am pretty excited for the USA game, got harassed a bit on the US forum for saying my star potential guy was gonna make U21. Plus a rematch vs.Rainey at the point, John held him to 2 points in a scrimmage last season.

Hmm, I'm not sure whether to like that we start hard and finish easier or not. Do you think we have enough to take the group?

I t hink it would be better the Other way around or base it on ur enemy

Post-Game Recap: Canada vs. United States, December 6, 2010

The Canadian U21 team ran into a brick wall tonight, and lost 82-70 against the United States. The U.S. has a good team this season, and we would have needed a lot of luck to beat them. Unfortunately, things went about as expected, and while we kept things close, we were unable to pull out a crucial win.

The game started out with some hope, as we raced out to a 14-6 lead. The confused U.S. players quickly regrouped, though, and proceeded to beat us 76-56 after that. The U.S. won every quarter, and had a 1 point lead after 12 minutes, a 3 point lead at half time, an 8 point lead after 36 minutes, and a 12 point lead when the game ended.

Looking at the details of the game, our best player tonight was probably Glenn Richards. He managed to put up 23 points (on 15 shots) while grabbing 16 rebounds. I think that earns him a random player of the game nod from me. Finally, someone other than Jaiswal or Clear wins the award. I knew it would happen eventually. :P The United States didn't have a single standout player, but got solid contributions from all over the court, and their superior team balance and depth was probably the main reason they won. They had 36 points off the bench, for example, while we just had 9, although their backups did play a lot more minutes than ours (due to the U.S. using fairly unusual substitution tactics).

With this loss, and an expected loss next week to Argentina, that puts us out of contention for making world's directly. We still are in good shape to fight for third in our group, though, if we want to, which would give us a spot in the second chance qualifiers early next season.

Post-Game Recap: Canada @ Argentina, December 13, 2010

This was an expected loss today, and there were no surprises. The final score ended up being Argentina 93, Canada 69. We did keep things fairly close early on, and were only down 37-32 early in the second quarter, but ended up getting blown out as the game went along.

Looking at the details of the game today, our Princeton offense resulted in some decent shooting out of SF, PF, and Center. Our starting SG, Chretien, got injured fairly early, so Torres played most of the SG minutes (and did alright out there). For player of the game, I'll give the nod to Philip Yates, who put up a fairly effecient 18 points on 6-14 shooting.

Next week, the action continues against Ecuador. A top 2 finish this season is pretty much officially ruled out for us now, although we're still in the hunt for 3rd in our group, and a spot in the repechage round next season.

I've never been a big fan of Princeton. Seems to favour outside shooting. That's just with my team though and my crappy offensive flow probably not being able to get the ball inside.

The greatest of all time.

Seems like we got some bad luck according to the ratings in the Ecuador game.

Yeah, brutal luck.

2 big men (and a SF) fouled out and another big man got injured. Sometimes everything goes against you.
